War Machine Sentenced to 36 Years to Life in Prison for Attack on Christy Mack

Former UFC/MMA fighter and adult performer War Machine, AKA Jon Koppenhaver, was sentenced to spend 36 years to life in a Nevada prison yesterday after being convicted of 29 counts related to his physical and sexual assault of porn star Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas in August of 2014.

He will be eligible for parole after serving 36 years of his sentence. He will be 71 years old at that point in time. 

The judge rejected Koppenhaver's lawyer's bid for a new trial based on an obscure 1911 state law that the defense attorney said would have let Koppenhaver tell the jury that he was in a sort of a blind rage amounting unconsciousness while he attacked Mack and Thomas, and therefore could not have been aware that he was committing a crime.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t seriously regret all of the things that I did,” Koppenhaver said in court before he received his sentence. “I was a very, very lost and very empty person.”

Mack stated tearfully in court before the sentencing that she believes that when and if Koppenhaver is ever released that he will kill her. Hopefully, the fact that the asshole will be quite the senior citizen by the time he experiences anything like freedom again will impede any effort he makes that way towards her ever again.
