"We all have squishy flesh under our ribcage," says Exquisite Restraint designer Simone Williams from her Los Feliz studio. "A corset just redistributes it."

With a porn star like Aria Giovanni modeling (the corset captures Aria's proportions so much better than the hatchback Nacho Vidal threw her in), Williams cuts her fees for porn films rather than lends corsets to productions for publicity. "I'd just assume not do the dry cleaning," she said.

Williams offers a distinction between the horribly painful corsetry employed in darker times and the sexy, choice-driven corsetry of today ("back then you got put in a corset at age 14 and never took it off," she said), adding that corsets are available for the "progressive" male as well as trusses for transgendered folks.
