Interview: April Flores

When we first discovered April Flores (aka Fatty Delicious) in her girl-girl deepthroating debut in Belladonna's "Evil Pink 2", it was hot, throbbing love at first sight. With the fresh release of Miss Delicious' new DVD "Alter Ego", lucky Fleshbot contributor Violet Blue got a chance to ask April a few questions about the film, her love for big dildos, the finer points of peeing in public, working with Belladonna, her upcoming appearance as a human canvas at San Francisco's Kink Ink this Saturday, and much more after the jump.

Violet Blue: Your new video "Alter Ego" is a dreamy collection of highly sexual scenes, sort of like Andrew Blake meets altporn. Where did the ideas for these scenes come from?

Fatty D: When I met Carlos Batts the very first thing he said to me was that he wanted to shoot me in a bikini. I was a little shy, but more excited that an artist would want to use me to create a piece of art.

Since that first photo shoot, we have been obsessively taking pictures and documenting our lives. The original goal was to some day put out a book, using Dahmane's Porn Art & Porn Art II, and My Wife by Petter Hegre as our inspiration and aspiration. We eventually placed a video camera in the room, and began recording our shoots for fun. Once we saw how the footage looked, it excited us so much that we decided to incorporate it into the book project.

Violet Blue: That music is fucking amazing! Where did it come from?

Fatty D: Cool! I'm glad you liked the music. We have an awesome group of Musicians/DJ's that we work with for various projects; HustlePUNCH, Dhundee, and Audio Fix. The music will always be original and organic and will match the visuals.

Violet Blue: What are your relationships with the women in the video?

Fatty D: All the women Alter Ego are very good friends of mine. I think it's a special occasion when you get the chance to work with friends in such an intimate way. There is always a unique energy that flows during the photo/video shoots. If I'm shooting with someone, I like there to be a mutual admiration between us because the camera will capture the mood and tone being felt.

My friend Lady Barbara Ann and I shot together many times this past winter. We call ourselves "The Supermuses"! She is always so much fun to work with because she has an amazing energy that adds a rare quality to the photos. When we shoot together, we embody opposite emotions and become characters that are a sort of yin and yang.

Violet Blue: Did Carlos Batts film the video, and did he have anything to do with the way it looks?

Fatty D: Carlos shot all the video, and had everything to do the way it looks. He has such a talent for creating mood using his lighting style and color palate, that it makes it easy for the subject to be transported to his world and become his vision. He chose all the locations and did 99% of the styling. I am in charge of hair and make-up. Once a location has been decided upon, the mood and colors develop from there. There is a lot of thought and preparation that goes into each shoot. We always try to inspire each other to do something unique and different.

Violet Blue: There are a lot of different fetishes in the video: peeing, foot worship, bondage, pantyhose, hyooge dildos... Do you have a favorite?

Fatty D: I really enjoy playing with that huge dildo and pretending it is my own. I walk around and smack things with it. I also like wearing strap-ons (although I have never actually used one.) I think penises are such beautiful gadgets. I love to feel and play with a nice firm shaft, and it's soft, squishy head at the tip!

I also love peeing in public and have become quite good at it. The trick is to make sure your pussy lips are separated enough so that the pee streams directly onto the ground and not down your legs and into your shoes. I haven't figured out a way to avoid splatters though.

Another reason I enjoy peeing in public is that if a man can do it, then so can I. It really angers me that there are never enough public restrooms to fully accommodate women. You will always see a line outside of the Women's restroom, but never the Men's. Why the hell is that? If Men had to sit down and wipe each time they had to take a piss, I guarantee they would have access to twice as many toilets as women do today.

Violet Blue: One scene is a hot encounter with a sexy, teacup-tittied tranny girl. Before you frolic with her huge clit, she injects Caverject. What was your thinking behind including that scene in the film?

Fatty D: I thought it was important to include that scene because it was what really happened. She is a visual artist and graphic designer who is also documenting her transformation thru various artistic mediums. We wanted to collaborate by playing with the ideas of sexuality and gender. She was completely open to any and all ideas for the scene. The injection was such a visually memorizing moment that the scene wouldn't have been as strong had it not been included.

Violet Blue: You've been in mainstream porn, and now your own production where you called all the shots. What do you see as being the major differences?

Fatty D: I had a wonderful time shooting with Belladonna. She was lovely, and made me feel so comfortable and good.

My DVD is more about eroticism, tease, and the imagination. It's sort of a cross between a moving coffee table book and visual documentary where you get to see how my pictures are created. I love that there is a voyeuristic feel to some of the scenes. You feel like you are in the room watching, and maybe you shouldn't be there.

It seems that anything sexual is usually put into two categories—"porn" or "fetish". Human beings have natural sexual desires that come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Sexuality cannot be easily or neatly categorized.

We decided to create our own line of films for our peers. Something we would want to watch. My body type is natural and more common than what is represented in today's culture. I'm so tired of the media glorifying women whose bodies look like 12 year old boys. It is dangerous because young girls and other women are bombarded with these images, and then feel bad about their own bodies. I wanted to show that women can enjoy and explore their sexuality regardless of their weight.

The Alter Ego series will be authentic and unpredictable. There will be scenes that feature sex, but it will be done with our artistic vision.

Violet Blue: Have you ever dealt with bias about your body from the mainstream porn industry?

Fatty D: I don't think so. All the feedback has been very positive. I think people want to see different kinds of women. Weather they are tattooed and pierced, or big and beautiful, there is someone out there who has a fantasy waiting to be fulfilled.

Violet Blue: You're coming to San Francisco this Saturday to participate in Kink Ink. Are you excited?

Fatty D: I'm so excited! It should be lots of fun. I'm really looking forward to meeting Carol Queen, Robert Lawrence, and of course you!

Violet Blue: What will you do at Kink Ink?

Fatty D: I'm going to be a human canvas! Artists will be drawing original art on live nude models, and I will be one of the lucky ones. I feel so privileged to have been invited to participate in Kink Ink.

Violet Blue: Anything you want to make sure you do or see while you're in San Francisco?

Fatty D: I heard that North Beach has really good Italian food. I also want to check out an art museum and go to Fisherman's Wharf.

Violet Blue: What can we look forward to from the illustrious Fatty Delicious?

Fatty D: We are currently filming scenes for Alter Ego II and it should be out by late May/early June. You can always expect interesting and adventurous visuals from Alter Ego, and on my site.
