Watching Porn Doesn’t Lead To Erectile Dysfunction

Chalk up another win for science. In a recent study researchers from UCLA and Montreal's Concordia University found that watching porn that no effect on erectile dysfunction.

Many anti-porn activists and some clinicians claim that habitually watching porn can not only lead to ED, but it can also cause other problems in the bedroom. Not so, says this new study published in the journal Sexual Medicine. The researchers found viewing porn was unrelated to ED problems and in fact, lead to a stronger desire for sex with their partners.

"Many clinicians claim that watching erotica makes men unable to respond sexually to 'normal' sexual situations ...," said coauthor Nicole Prause, a UCLA sexual psychophysiologist and neuroscientist. "That was not the case in our sample."

Prause along with with James Pfaus (professor of neuroscience and psychology) used 280 straight males, mostly in their 20s, and had them watch porn videos for up to 25 hours a week and the participants reported if they experienced any ED problems.

"While many people think easy access to porn leads to problems in the bedroom, our study suggests the opposite," Pfaus said in a statement. "The erectile dysfunction is most likely caused by the same issues that have been known for some time, such as performance anxiety, poor cardiovascular health or side-effects from substance abuse."

Researchers also found that the participants were more aroused if they watched porn at home instead of in a room at the lab. While that one is kind of a no brainer, this is a win for science. So, watch away gentlemen, your boners are fine.
