Colombian Beauty Queen Banned From Competition Over Bikini Pics

Colombia might not be the most closed minded country in the world, but they're also not going to be confused for a bastion of forward thinking individuals. Just take this recent incident with beauty queen Paola Builes Aristizábal who won the title of Miss Antioquia, earning her a spot in the Miss Colombia pageant. Well, at least it did until someone discovered bikini photos of the beauty.

According to The NY Daily News (link below), Paola was stripped of her crown and banned from competing because of these bikini photos. Seriously. Not nude photos. Bikini photos. Granted she's sporting a bit of camel toe in that picture above, but come on. Camel toe never hurt nobody. At least nobody I know.

Builes said she felt "discriminated" against and claimed the photographs had been online for "at least two years."

"There are other candidates that have pictures of themselves in lingerie, in tiny clothing, so I feel there’s discrimination," the Latin Post reports her as saying.

“I’m still in shock about the dismissal. On Sunday I was queen of all Antioqueños and (on Tuesday) there was a new queen."

Her family said it was "devastated" by the ruling — and claimed she had previously turned down "lucrative" modeling work to not jeopardize her chances in the competition.

Well, no point in turning down any more lucrative work now. Take those jobs and run with them.
