In the December issue of Vanity Fair, Kate Moss talks about the painful fear and sadness that visited her during her early years of modeling. She specifically addresses the topless moments that made her famous and discusses how she cried and cried but went through with the shoots anyway. It's absolutely wonderful that she's chosen to go topless for the spread that goes with the article, and here's why.
Obviously, we're happy about seeing Kate topless--we're always happy to see Kate--but that's not it. We appreciate that while she's revealing the misery she went through having to take her clothes off for the cameras at such a young age (she was sixteen for her first topless shoot), she's not coming at it from a moral standpoint. It's not the nudity that's the problem, it's the modeling and fashion industries that were cruel to her, and the fact that she's comfortable displaying her body now emphasizes that point. Or, you know, maybe we're blowing this out of proportion. Nonetheless, Kate looks stunning in this latest shoot and we are deeply fascinated by all she has to say in the article. In addition to dishing about her early days, she also about Johnny Depp and being labeled heroin chic, and we wish we could read more!
