A Field Guide To Samantha Saint

After we saw Samantha in "The Insatiable Miss Saint," we started thinking about this young woman's place in the greater pantheon of pornstars. Does her star shine bright enough to rival Silvia Saint's? If not, will it someday? Rather than consult the oracle, we decided to figure out the answers for ourselves; we don't know where the destination is, but this Field Guide is the journey.

Samantha Saint was born on June 8, 1987 (happy belated birthday, Samantha!) in Memphis, Tennessee. She left home when she was nineteen to study aesthetics at the Aveda Institute in Denver, but when she graduated and gained a license to be a beautician in Colorado, Samantha realized that she really wanted to be a model--an adult model. She didn't have any experience with nude photography or stripping, and she had no idea how to approach her goal, so after a little research, she got in touch with Adult Talent Managers Los Angeles (ATMLA), submitted photos, got hooked up with Shy Love, and started shooting glamour photos for sites like Suze!

Even though she approached the industry with patience and logic, Samantha wasn't exactly confident about her career choice at first. She documented these feelings last September in a revealing blog post called "My Path":

I'm beginning to feel like the airport is my new home. (is it just me or does the majority or the flight crew look like they need a good fuckin') Man, I have really been traveling. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining. It is just hard to adjust from one extreme to the other. One day I'm waking up on the east coast spending time with family, then I find myself in the comfort of my own home for 48 hours and then before I know it, it's time to pack up my porn gear and head back to la la land to live out the life of a porn star. No doubt I am living a far from normal life but I wouldn't have it any other way. Regardless of what society clams to be normal for a career it is a great feeling to know that I am ballsy enough to take a huge risk and try out a career path that makes me happy. The first year was hard for me. I found myself questioning if I was making a mistake?! What would I say to friends and family if or when they found out? Would I become lonely and isolated? And I guess the even bigger question…
Do I have what it takes?

After doing a bunch of solo and girl-girl work and being crowned Twisty's Treat of February 2011, Samantha eased her way into boy-girl scenes, orgies, and started appearing on DVDs. She knows how to climb the ladder of hardcore acts and she's not going to push herself too hard or too quickly. As she mentions on her blog:

I am very happy with my career choice. I know it is taboo and hard for people to understand why I do what I do but it does not always need to be a tragic sob story, daddy doesn't love me, etc. I approach porn from a business prospective and while also enjoying myself along the way. I have set goals for myself and plan to continue to be a porn-star until they are reached!

What are those goals?

Once my adult career is over I see myself starting a family and working on a catering business or opening my own restaurant. Being from the South I was brought up around amazing southern cuisine and feel I was born with the gift of cooking amazing food.

It sort of sounds like porn is a stepping stone in Samantha's road, but that's not a fair assessment. Yes, she has far-reaching life plans, but she's still passionate about the present and her place in the adult industry. Earlier this year, Samantha appeared in an informative video for ATMLA in which she talks about her pathway to pornstardom and gives advice to women who are considering doing the same. She again mentions the importance of setting goals, emphasizing the need to communicate and work with your agent to achieve those goals. Samantha also stresses the need to buy your domain name as soon as you figure out your pseudonym, noting, "that, in the long run, is going to be the most profitable thing for you."

As business-minded as she is, she's not in the industry for purely capitalistic reasons. When Samantha discusses the perks of being a pornstar, she mentions getting to know yourself sexually, exploring/realizing/creating fantasies, forging new relationships, and meeting fans. Yes, she mentions the joy of having her fans buy her things from her wishlist, but so what? The girl has declared that anyone who has a question about getting involved in the industry can send her a message through Twitter; she deserves many presents for giving her time and wisdom like that.

What other things should you know about Samantha Saint? Here's how she characterizes her sexual style:

"In the bedroom, I sweat. I'm a Gemini and I think that has a lot to do with what I enjoy sexually. I can be into the soft, romantic kissing, making out, love making, or I can like getting fucked. It depends on what day it is."

And although the energy in this interview is rather low, we find out that Samantha is not a morning person, she's never had pity sex, and "sun worshipping is one of [her] favorite pastimes."
