Normally we have to say something like, "Oh, in our minds, this movie is nothing but a few minutes of sex scenes." The same can be said for this 1970 "Tropic of Cancer" adaptation, except for the fact that we're right this time. It's mostly sex.
Maybe we're being unfair. "Tropic of Cancer" occupies a weird cultural space; some people think of the novel for nothing besides the graphic sex, and others think of it as one of the most important novels in English history (but really, those people like the sexy parts, too). The point is, we guess there is a lot more to this than just Ellen Burstyn and her round, gorgeous boobs. We wanted to be right for once!
