Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Porn, or “Tough Love 19”

Jealous boyfriends, agents, tears, gangbangs, racism, ego, masochism, and Charlotte Vale's delicious prone body paint a vivid picture of porn in 2010, all wrapped up, as per usual in a Jim Powers release, in ridiculous packaging.

Prolific director Jim Powers often crosses the border into heartless territory when he leaves the behind the scenes camera on and captures the backstage drama that is often more car-crash compelling than most porn DVDs. Witness the BTS scenes of any of his movies or his "Porn's Most Outrageous Outtakes" for ample proof that porn is stranger than fiction.

But Powers directs an extended porn scene in "Tough Love 19" that tells a universal story. Charlotte Vale is seen with three boyfriends, Eric Swiss, Jenner, and Johnny Thrust, each of whom plays a porn boyfriend archetype centering on their simultaneous fascination with and revulsion to her career.

There was no script for this scene, and the improvising was as simple as playing back events of say, the past week. Eric Swiss and Vale do an excellent job.

That there is so much truth behind the angry sex that follows might be disturbing to some viewers, but I always like when I stumble across (because to say "come across" would be too crude) a scene that is more reality than parody.
