Carol Queen Is “Going Down”—And She’s Willing To Teach You How

How many ways are there to teach cunnilingus? A whole lot more than one, it seems—especially when porn enters into the equation. Out this month: Good Releasing's "Going Down: The Official Guide to Cunnilingus," featuring Dr. Carol Queen.

Good Releasing isn't the first company to tackle the topic of oral pleasure (and they certainly won't be the last), but they do approach the subject in a novel way. "Going Down" isn't so much a porno as it is an explicit documentary: the "scenes" aren't twenty minute extravaganzas, they're short bursts of hardcore goodness (maybe 5 minutes each, tops) mixed in to a landscape of real couples discussing their oral sex likes and dislikes, and, of course, some serious (but fun!) education from Carol Queen herself.

Through the hour long feature, Carol covers an exhaustive amount of information, ranging from the basics of female anatomy and tongue techniques to strategies for making your partner feel more comfortable with her body—and, of course, all important tips about how to keep your neck from cramping. It's a good, solid lecture (not that we'd expect less from Dr. Queen), and though it sometimes feels like the release is heavier on the telling than the showing, we can't really fault anyone for wanting to give Carol Queen extra screen time.

Also noteworthy is Good Releasing's inclusion of many, many different types of people—both as performers and, ahem, cunnilingus commentators. Old, young, straight, queer, fat, thin, and people every color under the rainbow turn up on screen to proclaim their love of licking labia (or having their labia licked). It's a nice reminder that sexuality isn't restricted to the young, white, and skinny—no matter what pop culture might like to make us think.

On the whole, "Going Down" is best for those who like their education with a side of titillation, rather than those hoping for naked action as the main course in their sex ed buffet. It's a good, solid guide to how to please a lady—one with the added bonus of naked, writhing Madison Young popping up to say hi every now and again.
