“Major Sperm Shortage” Is Staring The UK In The Face

The mainstream media has got spunk on the brain lately. First there was the story about China's horrifying sperm extraction machines, and now the BBC (link below) is reporting that Great Britain is staring down a "major sperm shortage."

BFS chairman, Dr Allan Pacey, said he was "worried" that some clinics may be setting a lower bar to "get donors through the door". He said women may be subjected to more invasive and expensive techniques if poor-quality sperm were used. There are thought to have been fewer sperm donors after the right to anonymity was removed in 2005.

The demand for donors has been falling as advances in fertility treatment let more men father their own children. However, a shortage of donors has still emerged.

Dr Pacey warned this was limiting patient choice and increasing waiting times, which led to potential risky practices, including DIY insemination with a friend's sperm or seeking treatment in a country with less fertility regulation.

Ah, the old "DIY insemination." It seems like every day I'm getting phone calls from my lady friends asking me to help them with a DIY insemination.

He told the BBC: "We do still have a major sperm shortage in the UK.

"The worry is clinics might decide to change the quality of sperm they are willing to accept in order to get donors through the door and I think that's a very dangerous road to go down."

Look, do you want the sperm or don't you? There's so many mixed messages in this article. And for the record, for all the ladies reading, I'm not short on sperm. Just wanted to make sure that was clarified. The last thing I need is for all the ladies out there thinking I'm anything less than virile.
