A Field Guide to Elizabeth Olsen

Gorgeous actress Elizabeth Olsen stars as villain Scarlet Witch in what is going to be one of this summer's biggest blockbusters, Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that hits theaters last week.  Olsen buried her head in comics to research her character to give us the portrayal of this storied comic so now, it is time to take a moment to learn about Olsen before she possibly becomes your latest superhero movie crush.

Twenty-six years old, volleyball playing Olsen hails from Sherman Oaks, California in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley and is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  Growing up around all of the Olsen twin fan mania seemed to work out OK for her as she starred in a couple of her sisters' star vehicles aimed directly at their tween fans, "How the West Was Fun" and the short film "The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley: The Case of the Mystery Cruise".  

She went on to star in 2011 as the lead in "Silent House", a horror flick about Olsen being trapped in her family's lakeside haunted house and in "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding", a comedy about aging hippies that she starred in alongside Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener.  The movie that stands out of Olsen's from that year, though is "Martha Marcy May Marlene".  It's a truly excellent indie drama where Olsen deftly pays a young woman who struggles to get back into her normal life with her family after leaving a cult that was definitely inspired by the murderous Manson family.  In the cult, Olsen's character was encouraged to have multiple sexual partners and there is a great amount of nudity from Olsen during her portrayal of this damaged girl.

Yep, true acting chops and perky, young boobies.  You get both in this flick and it is definitely worth the rental.

In 2012, Olsen had a role in Sigourney Weaver's paranormal thriller "Red Lights" and the lead role in the romantic comedy "Liberal Arts" opposite "How I Met Your Mother"'s Josh Radnor.

The next year got a lot busier for Olsen with her role in the Beat poet murder mystery "Kill Your Darlings" and her work as a central character in the coming-of-age drama "Very Good Girls' where she gets naked alongside Dakota Fanning.  The drama is about barely legal girls losing their virginity  We get to see Fanning and Olsen dance around in their underwear embracing each other on someone's front lawn.  Sigh.  To be young....In 2013's "In Secret", Olden plays the leading role of Therese Raquin, a sexually repressed young women in Paris in the 1800's who gets trapped into a loveless marriage by her domineering aunt played exceedingly well by Jessica Lange.  It is sexy film where Olsen finds her way out with an affair with Oscar Isaac.  Her most memorable project of 2013 has to be dierctor Spike Lee's remake of "Oldboy" that she starred in opposite Josh Brolin.  There is a ton of great nudity of Olsen having fake sex with Brolin in this, even though it does not ultimately hold up to the awesome, hella violent original film.  

IN 2014, Olsen starred in the summer blockbuster "Godzilla" opposite but truly, it all has been building up towards her appearance in the Marvel film universe in her world.  She had a small but memorable appearance in a short after the credits of Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" where we get a brief glimpse of her as Wanda Maximoff also known as the Scarlet Witch.  She will be appearing as Scarlet Witch in next year's "Captain America: Civil War" but this weekend, we get to experience her first exposure as a Marvel villain.

The character of Scarlet Witch has the powers of full-on sorcery and reality warping and zero physical capabilities, unlike all of the Avengers. Her powers sound realy fucking handy.  Who doesn't want to freeze time and make the world operate the way you personally want it? Witch casts hexes which are limited to her light of sight, most of the time and depending on what the storyline is and the amount of prep time she is given, she can make those spells into big ones.  Witch is the daughter of super villain Magneto and in the clip we first saw Olsen as the Witch in, she and her brother Quicksilver are held captive by Baron Strucker who wants to conduct experiments on them for the evil Hydra organization that wants to take over and/or destroy the world.  Witch sorta consents to the experiments but is still a captive for some reason.  I am guessing we will learn a lot more about where Marvel plans to take this story arc in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" this weekend.  We will probably not, however, get a fresh view of this lovely actress' bare butt.  However, the genesis of this storied Marvel villain who evolves later in the comic books into a heroine should be pretty fucking interesting.
