And You Thought Science Couldn't Be Sexy
There is a period in everyone’s life when they want to be a marine biologist. Don’t know what it is about the scientific study of organisms in the ocean and other random bodies of water, but for a brief time it’s what we all want to do. Most of us grow out it and move on to something else, but there are a few who grow up not only be marine biologists, but decide to get naked and swim with beluga whales.
Technically speaking, I don’t think Natalia Avseenko is a marine biologist (she’s credited as being a yoga and meditation expert), but she was convinced to strip down to her birthday suit and jump into sub-zero water to swim with beluga whales. Now you might wondering why someone would do this, well, beluga whales dig nudity… not really. The theory is that beluga whales don’t like the feeling of anything artificial like a diving suit so, scientists convinced Natalia Avseenko to take it all off and jump in. Avseenko can actually hold her breath for over 10 minutes, thanks to mediation and breathing techniques.
While I certainly have opinions about using a nude woman to help tame these whales so they can be shipped off to aquariums and sea parks around the world, one thing I can’t argue with is how freaking beautiful some of these pictures are. I know there is a push to get more young minds interested in science and I really think nude women swimming with whales is one way to do.
