We-Vibe Makers Sued Over Internet Privacy Concerns

null

Privacy Concerns Are Just Not Sexy

A woman has filed for a class action lawsuit in the state of Illinois suing the We-Vibe sex toy company for "consumer fraud, unjust enrichment, intrusion upon seclusion, and violating the Federal Wiretap Act and the Illinois Eavesdropping Statute, and asking for punitive damages," according to the website Vocativ.

The unidentified woman who used this toy and the app with special vibration patterns that you can only get access to if you use the app, claims that she only used it a couple of times before figuring out that the vibe was sending information back to Standard Innovation, including her email address, her toy usage habits and the amount of time she was using the vibe for.

Standard Innovation has apparently not been presented with the suit yet but told Vocativ that “the privacy and security of our customers’ data is of utmost importance.”

Uh, OK, but why do they need to keep that data in the first place? That is way too Big Brother for a bit of silicone that is made to go near my nether regions, no matter how awesome that toy is. Nobody really needs to know how quickly a toy gets me off (except for you all in my sex toy roundup).
