"No Stars” by Rebekah Del Rio. This song is one of my favorite songs simply because it’s beautiful, and Rebekah has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. The song is also featured in one of my favorite shows “Twin Peaks” where she does an amazing beautiful live performance. I’ve seen Rebekah perform live and her voice is just as perfect as on her albums. This song is about a special place, with that special person in your heart, a place where you both escape and it’s just pure bliss, whether it’s a memory, time, or an actual place.

“Champagne Supernova ” by Oasis. I know usually people think of "Wonderwall" when they think of Oasis, which is also an amazing song. However this one always stood out to me more. It reminds me of my childhood, throwing on the new Oasis album after school, and drifting away for a little while. I’m pretty sure I listened to that album more than any other I’ve ever owned.

“Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” by Cigarettes After Sex. This song is more recently a favorite of mine. You know when you meet that special someone, and they are so much different than anyone else you’ve liked or loved before? That kind of feeling where you feel extremely nervous, almost sick to your stomach when you meet because there’s this crazy magnetic pull, that you’ve never felt before and you know that this is it? This is that special someone that life has been preparing you for and leading you to all your life? Yeah, I think this song explains the feeling of finding that one, and wanting to protect them, and all the sweet moments in between.

“Gimme Sympathy” by Metric. I love this song because i play it a lot when I am having one of this “so this is life” moments, you know the moments when you’re discovering yourself, or you’ve closed a chapter and you’re starting a new one. It’s like you stop to appreciate the moment, take it all in, you know you’re growing and you
accept the pain with the happiness as you close a chapter and move forward in life. It’s never to be forgotten, just that bittersweet moment, the moment of clarity.

“Good Day” by The Dresden Dolls. I feel like I should have listed something a bit more fun, like the Spice Girls or something with a fun cute story to go along with it, but I decided to go with songs that had a deeper meaning to me. This song also brings me back in time, but to my high school days. I was a very depressed, angsty, confused and lost kid, as I am sure a lot of teenagers are at that age. This song was a favorite, it allows you to be upset, angry or sad with the world around you, but also to be real and kind of laugh at your situation sometimes and accept that it’s part of growing up, in this cruel crazy world. I’m sure when I listened to it back then I was more emotional,
but now when I listen to it, it makes me smile and think about who I was then compared to who I am now. If only we could tell our teenage self that things will work out and be okay, ha ha.
