Demi Is Fucking Beautiful

Truly gorgeous starlet Demi Sutra wrote and stars in Adult Time/Pure Taboo's "Afrodisiac: A Demi Sutra Story" directed by AVN Hall of Famer Craven Moorehead. The plot is described as being about a "gorgeous and successful model who faces a litany of rejections from agents, clients and photographers that eat away at her confidence" and wow, it is intense. It also stars Anny Aurora and AVN Hall of Famer Steve Holmes and you absolutely should watch this. Here's what Sutra had to say about making this excellent scene.

Hello, Demi! How are you? How are things going?

"Hiiiii!! I’m so good. Things are going great! I’m so appreciative and high on life."

Congrats on the release of "Afrodisiac: A Demi Sutra Story"! How does it feel having it out there in the world?

"Thank you so much! God, it feels good. I often am very open about how racism affects me, and other people, but sometimes I’m not open in a way that can be heard, if that makes sense. Having this movie out allows me to not only make my fans happy, but also openly discuss a hard topic in a beautiful way. I was so afraid of what people would say and how they would react but wow. The feedback has been amazing."

How much of your experience in adult inspired what your character in this goes through?

"It wasn’t really just the adult industry that inspired what my character in Afrodisiac goes through. My life as a black woman is what inspired my character. The way that I am treated on a daily basis is what inspired my character. It is very blatant and evident in this industry that racism is widely excepted as the norm, but adult is not what truly inspired my character's story. My life did. The media likes to condition us and program us and then it becomes our job and responsibility to undo all of that. From a very young age, it was taught to me by the media that to be aligned with fair skin is the equivalent of beauty. That’s it. That was it. That is what inspired my story."

How was working with Craven Moorehead to create this? What do you like most about working with him?

"What I loved about working with Craven, was that he really just allowed me to take complete control. It was very scary. He really pushed me to make whatever decisions I wanted to make and that is something that I am incredibly grateful for. He is such an amazing director and I can’t believe I got the chance to work alongside him!"

What do you love most about the Pure Taboo site as a whole?

"What I love most about the Pure Taboo site, is it is truly cinematic stories with sex added in. It’s not your regular porn site, nothing against those sites of course, but it is a storytelling site that includes deep dark stories. I love that they are not afraid to go there. I knew that if I wrote for the site, I could take it almost anywhere I wanted to and that is truly gratifying."

How was working with Anny Aurora and Steve Holmes in this? What about their performances in this moved you most?

"I loved working with Anny and Steve. Steve is such a sweetheart, so it was really exciting to get him to be mean to me! He really took it there and I could not be more grateful. Steve went above and beyond. One of my favorite things about working with Annywas that she was actually able to keep her composure while I did weird, creepy things around her. We had to do a couple takes because we all ended up laughing a few times, but it only added to the experience."

This story talks a lot about self acceptance. What have you found that really helps you out with that?

"Fuck. Okay. This is a deep one. A lot of different things help me and are currently helping me with self acceptance. The biggest one is comparison. For me to let go of comparison, whether it be the way I look, my success, if I am shooting as much as others, was my biggest struggle. I still currently struggle with this, but I work on it every single day. I have things that I am so extremely proud of myself for overcoming and I also have things that I’m just naturally good at that I have to learn to appreciate and love. Loving yourself is hard. It shouldn’t be, but it is for so many people for so many different reasons. Another big one is just ignoring the media 100%. I don’t let anyone tell me who or what I am. I love myself and I am a working progress/art project. That’s it."

The lead image of you painting your face with that pale foundation just breaks my heart every time I look at it. What does that image symbolize to you?

"That image symbolizes exactly what I previously spoke on. There are so many different types of beauty, but a lot of people would have you think differently. A lot of people feel the need to change themselves in every way that they possibly can to be beautiful. This is untrue. This image speaks for itself. I’ve struggled with feeling beautiful my whole life and still do. My mom does the same thing. I just want everyone to be able to look in the mirror and be at peace. Just feel beautiful! Feel like we are “enough”. That’s so important to me. I’m so grateful that I have given myself the space to learn how to do this and I want to show others it can be done."
