Abstinence, Creampies, And Self-Preservation

EDITORIAL FEATURES

It’s fucked up to consider that in many states where abortion is or will be banned, abstinence is emphasized as the only, or primary, way to avoid pregnancies, and sex education is not required.

FACT: On June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling establishing the constitutional right to abortion.

FACT: Abortions during the first two trimesters of pregnancy had been allowed in the United States since 1973.

FACT: Current abortion rates are lower than they were in 1973.

FACT: According to the Guttmacher Institute data, more than 60% of abortion patients have a religious affiliation.

I’m writing this article assuming that most of my readers are big porn fans, kinksters, and sex workers. I’m not an expert in politics, medicine, or religion; I’m a lesbian who never has, and most likely never will, experience the fear of an unplanned pregnancy. Nobody can expect to or pretend to understand the thought process behind getting an abortion unless they have had to make that decision themselves. I only want to provide some food for thought.

A decade ago, one of my closest friends had to get an abortion because she wasn’t financially or emotionally stable enough to care for and raise another human by herself. She would have had to do it by herself because when they found out they were pregnant, her boyfriend of almost four years said he wasn’t ready for a baby and didn’t want anything to do with the child if she decided to have it.

On June 27th, three days after the June 24 court ruling, an Indianapolis doctor who performs abortions received a call from a doctor in Ohio that had a 10-year-old patient who was six weeks and three days pregnant due to rape. Because she was past the six-month limit, she could not get an abortion in Ohio; she underwent a medical abortion in Indianapolis on June 30th.

An abortion of a 10-year-old is pretty rare. The Columbus Dispatch reported that in 2020, 52 people under the age of 15 received an abortion in Ohio.

Excuse me? Pretty rare? FIFTY-TWO!? UNDER 15!?

“The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman’s life, to her well-being and dignity. It is a decision she must make for herself. When government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a fully adult human responsible for her own choices.”

-Ruth Bader Ginsburg

We might disagree with why a woman decides to terminate a pregnancy, but who are we to judge and decide for them? Choosing to have or not to have a child is a decision to make responsibly regardless of context and circumstances. The bottom line is that if a woman knows she can’t care for a child, does it matter how old she is or how she got pregnant? How we feel about it doesn’t matter if we aren’t going to care for and raise these children. We should be focusing on sex education so that we can be proactive in avoiding unwanted pregnancies.

Josie Cunningham is an excellent example of how a sensational story can sometimes make us forget that if it’s her body, it’s her choice. Her story is controversial and cringy. We heard about Josie for the first time in 2013 when she demanded the National Health Services (publicly funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom) pay for her boob job, claiming that “years of bullying over her flat chest had ruined her life.” She later admitted that she went under the knife because she wanted to be an XXX model. Doesn’t reading that immediately make you think, “fucking taxes!”?

In 2014, she was pregnant when she had the chance to appear on a TV show. This is what she said:

“An abortion will further my career. This time next year I won’t have a baby. Instead, I’ll be famous, driving a bright pink Range Rover and buying a big house. Nothing will get in my way. I’m finally on the verge of becoming famous and I’m not going to ruin it now.”

She eventually decided to have the baby. By the end of 2014, she had been engaged to a convicted domestic abuser, called off the engagement, and gotten arrested for posting sexually explicit photos of him on Twitter. She got pregnant again and underwent an abortion because doctors told her that getting a nose job is too risky during pregnancy. This is what she said:

“I’m having this nose job no matter what gets in my way. Pregnancy was a major obstacle and an abortion was the answer to it – so that’s what I did.  Anyone who criticises me for putting my looks ahead of an unborn child has no right until they’re the ones putting food on the table for my kids. I don’t care what anyone thinks. My body, my decision.”

Josie Cunningham has six kids and is dating the last baby daddy’s son. Sometimes I wonder if people consider a child's quality of life when they oppose abortion.

"How do you think you're gonna raise a child when all you do is suck dick for a living?"

"So is she gonna stop porn or be one of those disgusting, horrible mothers?"

How do you think your daughter is going to feel when her friends bring up to her that her mom was getting railed by a bunch of dudes?

These are some of the questions adult actresses get when they get pregnant. Female sex workers get judged more harshly than most, and we should be mindful of how the ban on abortions will affect the industry and the women losing control of their bodies. Avery Jane told the Daily Beast, I plan to look into doctors for a more permanent sterilization solution. I don’t want children and need to make sure I can continue to work and live my life without the fear that birth control will one day be taken away too.

But women of “child-bearing age” are often denied permanent sterilization by doctors who feel entitled to choose what is best for them. “You’re too young. What if you change your mind? What if you get married, and your husband wants to have children?” Because of this, creampies have “become some of the riskiest types of scenes to perform.” Porn stars get tested for STIs regularly and take extra safety precautions when it comes to infections and pregnancies. But what happens when birth control fails?
