Wicked Girl Stormy Daniels interview

XCRITIC

When I think about director and actress Stormy Daniels, my first thoughts are how funny and talented she is. She is definitely the best female director who makes romantic comedies in this industry. From her outstanding award winning films Operation Desert Stormy and Partly Stormy, this much heralded talent has proven to everyone that it's not just a man's world in this business when it comes to writing and directing high quality movies. I admire that her love for writing has propelled her into creating very entertaining productions that give much enjoyment to so many couples. Next year, she deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at both the AVN and XRCO ceremonies.

Hi Stormy, I admire how you have transitioned your career from being one of the best female performers on screen to being one of the best directors in the industry. What is it about directing films and writing screenplays that are so riveting that acting and performing on screen lacks?

I love the creativity of writing and directing. I've always been a writer. I started writing short stories in middle school and have just continued to do so. When I write a script, the movie actually plays out in my mind as I'm typing. I started by writing for other directors and it bothered me that their interpretation of my story wasn't exactly as I had envisioned it. The first movie I directed was really just an experiment. I wanted to see if I could make the story playing in my head come to life. I had no idea that I'd fall so in love with directing.

Currently, your well-regarded film Blow is out. How was it filming on location in Florida? Any interesting tidbits that you would like to share about the unpredictability of shooting on location?

I really enjoy shooting on location. I've shot in Florida twice and once in Hawaii. It gives the movie an entirely different feel and a whole new set of problems! The weather was terrible while filming "Blow." We got rained out twice while trying to shoot the boat scenes. We ended up incorporating the rain into some of the scenes, which actually worked out really well. That shoot really did feel cursed, though. Besides the weather, Jack Vegas got stuck in an elevator and Brendon Miller got into a car accident.

Being a voter for many awards shows, I have always enjoyed your flair with comedy in your acting performances. Are you naturally funny? What is it about romantic comedies that makes you shine and be so good? You are quite believable in those types of roles.

Why, thank you! I think I'm hilarious. I love comedy and Wicked makes me add the romantic part.

As to your screenwriting work, I love how a variety of your storylines have surprising endings. Could you give us your thoughts on why you enjoy writing these types of screenplays?

I just think they are more interesting. No one wants to see a predictable movie. It all goes back to being creative. I love putting a new twist and spin on things.

Since many of the lead roles in your screenplays are for your fellow Wicked Girls, I am curious on the process of how and when you decide which film is for which particular actress? For instance, did you already know that while you were writing Blind Date that the main character was going to be played by Kaylani Lei?

It starts with Wicked telling me which girl needs a movie. Then, I come up with a movie appropriate for her. Something she will be able to pull off believably and have fun doing. I know who 90% of my cast is as I'm writing. And yes, Blind Date was written for Kaylani.

How long have you been in the industry? What have been your most pleasurable moments so far? What has been your least pleasurable ones?

Ten years this spring. The best part was signing with Wicked and shooting Operation Desert Stormy. The least pleasurable was also shooting Operation Desert Stormy. That movie gave me an ulcer. I did all the pre-production by myself. I worked for almost a year on that movie. I was told it was "un-shootable" which just made me want to do it even more. Every detail and every shot of that movie was planned out by me. I've never been so driven in my life.

How did you get into the adult industry?

My friend and fellow feature dancer Devon Michaels invited me out to L.A. with her. She was coming out to do a few girl/girl scenes and asked if I wanted to do it with her. I was already a porn fan and had never been to California so I jumped at the chance. Her first shoot was for Wicked. I ended up being an extra in that movie. A few days later, she went home and I never left.

You are breathtaking in Boy/Girl and Girl/Girl scenes. What traits of a woman do you admire most? What makes a woman sexy? What traits of a man do you admire most? What makes a man sexy?

I love a woman's soft skin. I'd be happy to just pet her for hours especially Jenaveve Jolie. Her skin feels like velvet.  Oh, and boobs. I like men with fit hard bodies, but not too muscular. Of course, a nice cock helps.

What has been the biggest surprise for you about the adult industry?

The stigma has been the biggest (and saddest) surprise for me. There are people who actually think I'm being forced to do this or that I do porn because I'm too stupid to do anything else. I also didn't know that I'd be here so long and how much I'd love what I do.

I know that you love horses. How did you become so fascinated with these amazing animals?

I think all girls are born loving horses. I've yet to meet a little girl who doesn't want a pony. I just never grew out of it.

Are there any industry people (actors, actresses, directors, etc.) who you have not had the opportunity to work with yet and want to very badly and why? What would be your dream scene?

I'd love to work with Belladonna, Jesse Jane, and Rocco Siffredi.  I'd say that would be my dream scene, but my head would probably just explode.

How were you as a kid growing up?

I was quiet and a loner. If I wasn't on my horse, I was reading or writing. I did really well in school, but was shy so go figure.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I do eventing (jumping, dressage, and cross country).

What's your favorite thing about being an adult performer?

My favorite thing is that everyday is different. I don't think I'd do well with a regular 9 to 5 job.  I'd get bored. I've been all over the world, done amazing things, and met so many people.

Are there any web sites or future projects that you would like to promote? What are you currently working on film wise?

My next release is The Perfect Partner, which I star in and also directed.  After that, Immortal Love will come out. It is a Wicked Passions release starring Gracie Glam. Of course, I always promote my site StormyDaniels.com and my new company My Intima by Stormy Daniels.
