Vixen Blu was one of the many colorful people I met at this year’s BBW Fan Fest. But of all the people at Fan Fest, Vixen stood out the most among the pornstars, webcam girls, strippers, and dominatrixes. In what was a huge learning experience for me, Vixen is a part of a community I didn’t know existed until this weekend, the Pet Play community. I won’t even attempt to explain what Pet Play is; Vixen will do that for you. As we in XCritic pride ourselves in, we offer the opportunity for performers to express themselves in a safe, non-judgmental environment such as this website. This fetish may be bizarre to some, some will even dismiss it automatically but Vixen has the right, like any other performer or non-performer, to express herself in however way she pleases. If you’re open-minded enough, willing to learn and be informed of the Pet Play lifestyle, read on about BBW performer, webcam girl, and Pet Play enthusiast Vixen Blu.
Are you here at the BBW Fan Fest promoting anything specifically?
Promoting myself really, but I’m kind of here to promote pet play. I haven’t seen it much in mainstream or anything like that.
Go into what Pet Play is and what is it that you want the mainstream to be made aware of what this fetish is about?
I think it’s one of those niche type fetishes/kinks that not many people are exposed to and what people do know or think they know, it often blurs the line between . . . people mistake things out of ignorance. They think it means its non-consensual or that it involves animals, like real life actual animals which isn’t the case. I’ve gotten that before and I never know what to say. [Laughs] That’s a completely different thing. So I’m kind of feeling more apt to put it out there and get the market some more variety. There a lot of fetishes overall that are underexposed, pet play is one of them.
When did you realize you had this fetish?
I probably realized it before it was really, actually connected to my sexual side. I’ve always been into role-play. I’ve always played an animal or pretending to be cat. Whenever it was Halloween I always dressed up as a cat or a feline. So at some point during my puberty and sexual development, it became a part of my fetishes.
What do you feel is the biggest misconception people have about pet play?
People think its bestiality. That’s the biggest one. People have said, “You’re acting like this because you want to do this to an actual animal. That’s not the case.
What is your website, Twitter?
The website I’m primarily using is foxsensations.com, which is my adult toy store. I also have sexynaughtyfoxy.blogspot.com which is my erotic writings, photos. Then I have my Twitter which is @foxsensations.
Can you tell me about the sex toys you sell and how they stand out from other toys?
Our website is set up through in affiliate programs, so everyone who’s doing this has a set number of items that we can put into our store. You don’t have to add everything. You can customize your categories. So a lot of what I put in is pet play products. Right now, as much as they have thousands and thousands of products you can put in there, the closest pet play stuff I have is paddles, floggers, cat masks, a kink kit that have masks, little paws; leashes obviously for puppies. But most of what I have to choose from is what I’m going to regard from my perspective as the lighter side of kink. It’s kind of an introductory. I do also have a couple of pet play DVDs that are related to it. Lots of it is pony play which is the more popular animal of choice, especially these days.
What are some other popular animals?
Puppies, canine, and cat is sort of semi-popular but a lot of people don’t regard it as play because if you look at how a cat behaves, cats don’t follow orders. If you’re a defiant person than probably a cat is a good idea.
This world is fascinating. I wasn’t aware of this fetish until I met you.
Which is bizarre because it depends I guess on what part of the Internet we are in. the Internet is vast and wide. There’s fetishes I didn’t even know existed. I’ve talked to a couple of people here at Fan Fest and as I described the outfit I’m going to wear at the awards show, he seemed like, “Oh OK. Like that’s a little weird. “I’m kinky but apparently that’s way out of leftfield.” It goes back to what I deem kinky in strange way is someone’s norm. It goes back to your kink is not my kink, but that’s OK.
Does this fetish/lifestyle you lead, the clothes you wear, that turns you on?
Yeah it does. It really, really does to have someone who’s someone else and taking on a different role. I’m a switch so I can be a top, I can be a bottom. Right now I have a pony and I’m his trainer so I’m on the dom role. When I’m doing the fox thing I’m more of the sub role. Usually the pet is the bottom and the trainer or owner is the top.
Do people assume your pony who’s a male, that he is gay or bisexual?
You know, I honestly think that in BDSM if a male is a sub it really has no bearing on what his orientation would be. This is not to say I haven’t seen a subby bi boy or a subby gay boy, but the sexual orientation would be completely different from power dynamic.
I apologize if I’m asking dumb questions or not getting the lifestyle, so bear with me as I’m trying to learn about this lifestyle?
It really depends on how you ask questions. People sometimes, the way they ask, the tone of their voice, what things they mention usually can give me an insight, “Are they asking from complete ignorance and they want to understand,” and occasionally I’ve gotten people who were condescending. They already have their mind made up that I’m a weirdo. They just want to see, “What’s the weird girl going to say when I actually talk to her?”
You still have to deal with consent. That’s the main basic thing is that consent has to be there. People always ask me, “If you’re going to be a fox how is that anything but non-consensual because animals can’t talk. Animals don’t have a way to say no.” But that’s the thing, it’s still two human beings doing it. Everything, like in a BDSM scene, usually there’s a power dymanic that’s established through meeting and getting to know this person, and certain intricacies of a scene of a power dynamic are explored before play even begins.
What do you enjoy doing sexually?
I know a number of people that can do both, and I know a number of people that can do their kink but then if they try to do any sort of vanilla type sex it doesn’t work for them. Some people . . . just like you have people who are completely vanilla, completely do not have any fetish of any kind, you have people the other way. Then you have people like me that do both. One of my favorite positions, not surprising, doggy style. [Laughs] Reverse cowgirl, gotta love it.
And you are open to doing porn scenes?
To an extent I would be. I’d still be a little selective over it because, obviously if I’m not enjoying it, to me I think it’s obvious on camera. I’ve seen standard real basic porn and you can tell when the woman is just not feeling it. The camera to me doesn’t lie. So if I’m not feeling it or if I’m feeling I’m not going to be able to get into it, because to me when I’m doing most of my modeling, to some degree when I’m doing videos, I find that it’s better if I’m in the mindset that the camera is not there. There aren’t two or three cameras trained on me. When I did my pet play scene for Padded Kink there was one photographer and Kelly Shibari was there on set as well, off camera. When I’m doing pet play, things that are not part of the scene are not there. So it was very easy for me to drown it out and go about my business so it doesn’t look like I’m posing for the camera. It looks more voyeuristic. So if I’m doing a regular scene and I’m not feeling it, it’s going to be harder for me to erase the fact that there are these cameras everywhere.
Are there many people who are into this fetish?
Given that I’m in many circles with people who costume as some sort of animal and in any degree of human versus animal components, I would say there’s a high amount of us.
