The XCritic Interview: Linzee Ryder

XCRITIC

October brings us into a realm where we are meeting the newest starlets in the industry as we get set for nominations month and so much more with award season here and ready to rock and roll. Linzee Ryder and I began this conversation with how many scenes she had shot and what the first impressions of the industry are. At this moment, OC Modeling's newest star in making and I were talking about how a dancer from Detroit was enjoying the glitz and travel of Hollywood and if the adult world was that much more different now that she was moving onto film work.

Linzee Ryder

Linzee Ryder: I think this is now five and the first scene that everyone gets to look at is my scene with Naughty America, it was so amazing.

Don Juan: My goodness, what a great experience for a first shoot. I can only imagine what it was like to shoot “pretty girls” for the first time with a company like Naughty America. -For those who do not know, “pretty girls” are a reference to the photographs, or “stills” that are shot by the professional photographer who is on set to create something massive and marketable for fans to build up to as the scene gets released.

Linzee Ryder: Yeah, it was so fun. (The joy that comes out in her voice. It is beyond words.) I enjoyed it!

Don Juan: I think that the fans never get to see what it is like on set in so many ways. I also think that a model can forget what it is like to be pampered on set, to get that big hair and make-up day. That is something special when you reach that level as a model. If there is one thing, I would love to change about the way people see our industry when it comes to the glamour and beauty of being sexy and prideful of your sexuality as women. Now, to start this thing off with a bang, tell us how you found your way into the industry.

Linzee Ryder

Linzee Ryder: Well, this story begins Don right when I was getting out of a marriage. I got married when I was very young and as we both went our separate ways; I was looking for a new place to call home. I had a friend who I ended up moving in with who was a former dancer herself and she had worked at a lot of the clubs in Detroit. It was actually her that came to me and said this was something that I should do and that I would be so great at it. Everything she was saying made so much sense to me. She told that I would make great money, I would be able to have a bit more time to get things done in my own life. I had to give it a shot. My first job was as the door girl, then I became a shot girl, then I became a dancing shot girl, then I went to stripping from there and the rest is history. I have been doing it for over ten years now.

Don Juan: Wow, that is fucking wicked cool. To me it is really cool to know you are a veteran of the business for that long, I really mean that, and I will tell you why. So many people do not know what it takes to put yourself into performer mode, so that you can entertain the masses night and night out. Ten years means that you have a true passion for this business. Shit, being a good-looking woman and becoming a successful shot girl is fucking difficult as hell. It is sales at the maximum level. As you must deal with cheapness and cockiness. Two things very hard to overcome when selling.

Linzee Ryder: No, it is not an easy thing to do. From those jobs, it prepared me to do things like modeling after that. I have gone on since then to do a lot of modeling shoots. It was there that I really started getting approached from producers in the adult film business.

Don Juan: Oh, rock on. So that is where you met a lot of industry photographers who shared your beautiful pictures?

Linzee Ryder: Well, kind of. I post a lot on social media, especially my professional shots. I have found that it led me to get a lot more future gigs when I would use social media for that purpose. I think that partnering with some of the photographers for purpose of getting more work led to a few scouts and agencies to reach out to me on social media after they saw my posts. They gave me a couple of offers and when I found the one that I liked, I said, “why not?”

Don Juan: That is very cool Linzee. So, since day one, you have literally been your own marketing machine. In some ways, you have almost been like your own agent as well.

Linzee Ryder

Linzee Ryder: Yes, totally!

Don Juan: I think that is the most amazing thing about the modern industry is how today’s performer must be that marketing machine and more. How long had you been doing that for yourself before you found your agent, your publicist and more?

Linzee Ryder: I have been doing that for more than a couple of years now. I want to say right around 2016 or 2017. Somewhere right along in there. I would honestly have to go back on my Instagram and look but it has been a few years for sure.

Don Juan: So, I love that I get to be one of your first interviews in the business. So, I am dying to tell the fans everything. Are you originally from Detroit? Are you a “Motor City” gal?

Linzee Ryder: I sure am, born and raised.

Don Juan: Tell us what it was like to grow up in the “Motor City.” Are most of us outsiders full of shit and it is the hardest existence to grow up?

Linzee Ryder: (She laughs so cutely) Yeah, it is getting better though. I love this city. Going downtown is one of my favorite things. All though, there are times were, for instance, I will be on a plane and people will be like, “So, you are from Detroit?” I am actually from a suburb of Detroit, but the truth is, if you tell anyone that you are from Michigan, almost every single time someone will say, “oh, let me guess Detroit?” The first thing that they are thinking about Detroit is that it is the “murder city.” (We both start laughing) Honestly, it is not like that at all anymore. It is changing into this really nice “foodie” area. Some truly amazing bars seem to have sprung up overnight, it is just a really great place. It is the place to be for me, I love it. There is always something fun and exciting going on downtown.

Don Juan: OK, so I have to ask this because I was born in a place that has the same type of reputation as Detroit does. I was born in the Bronx and everybody who has never been there considers it the scariest place on earth but now, the Bronx has become the “commercial” yuppie heaven and is nothing like it was when I grew up there. It saddens me because it has changed into “yuppie-ville” and I am always screaming, “Nooooooooooo” whenever I go back these days. Is Detroit the same thing now? Because that would be a trip!

Linzee Ryder: Well, I do not want to sound negative about my home town and the place that I love but I think to be fair, most of what is being built all around my city and yours is something designed by the younger generation and they see things a little differently then we do. Back in the day, you would this as Detroit as the “hood” but now, thanks to the younger generation, “downtown” is now a place where you do not see crime like it is portrayed like on TV or in the movies. It is not like that at all.

Linzee Ryder

Don Juan: Right on! I have been there before, and I think that Auburn Hills is so amazing! That mall that is out there is so fucking cool. It is one of my favorite places to shop in the US.

Linzee Ryder: Oh, you mean Lakes Crossing?

Don Juan: Yes, I am the most feminine straight guy that you will ever meet in your life. I love shopping, I love great little food places that are above the norm and as far away from fast food as you can get, oh my God the mall out there is amazing.

Linzee Ryder: It has all of that outlet charm and that makes it even better!

Don Juan: Part two to the question and I love asking the performers this who are so well spoken. I am dying to know what you were like when you were young. I think performers share this kindred way of growing up that is unique in a good way and I would love to share your story with the fans to see if it resonates the same.

Linzee Ryder: Well, I was definitely the quiet and nerdy for sure. I also skipped a lot of school and got into some trouble, then I turned it around in my college years. Then, once that I got into adult entertainment and working at the clubs, I gradually started to discover myself and who it is that I really am. The truth about me and this industry in all forms, the more that I have done it, the better it has been for me as a hole as a person. I gain more and more confidence in myself, in my body as I get further and further into things. That does not include my sexuality which we have not spoken about. That has helped me come into my own even more. This whole experience and it may be kind of strange to say this but as a whole, it has helped me a whole lot. I have grown into who I should have always been, who I always knew that I was. I have finally excepted who I am, and I don’t think I would have ever been able to do that otherwise.

Don Juan: Oh, I love this, and this may sound like it is coming out wrong, but it is meant to be sweet. I can tell you are new to this side of the business because you started out your statement with, “now this may sound weird.” (We chuckle a little bit.) I truly believe this about sexuality and how important it is to life. I have been in this business a while now and what I am truly seeing is that sexuality at the level we recognize it at, it is life changing in the best of ways possible. I mean people would never believe that outside of the industry because they look at sexuality as this horrible thing that must be hidden, confined and never spoke of. I find it amazing that a new starlet says such things because that means that there is a truth to this discovery of sexuality. It means that we are not all kooks and weridos like people judge us to be. How can millions of people share the same view and be so happy. Not all of us are crazy like people believe. That is just so cool to hear from you.

Linzee Ryder

Linzee Ryder: Yes, for sure and I feel like what I am experiencing and what I have experienced up until now, it is like a whole other world that exists on top of the one that we think that we know. It is a world where I feel that I am truly excepted in. I do not feel like the outsider. It is something so great that I do not know how to explain it exactly but what I can say, what I do feel is it is one of the best experiences all around that I have ever discovered in my life.

Don Juan: I think that is the best part of this industry is more like-minded people who are becoming apart of it. This truly will help change society and educate “civilians” in the best of ways in my opinion.

Linzee Ryder: I think that society does look down on it in such a derogatory way. I also think that so may people do not see it as a business. That is a common argument I am always presented with and my response to those people is that “yes, it really is a business.” I think that is shocking to a lot of people.

Don Juan: I can only imagine the things you have been told and the questions you have been asked about such things. You being a performer and dancer for many years, people tend to only see what is on the surface. I think this is one of the lone forms of entertainment where you are always seen as your character, as the performer, they only see you as Linzee Ryder and I find that a sad fact about the outside world because the most in depth spirits I have ever met in life, reside within this business, no bullshit. I am pretty sure Harrison Ford walks out of a place to eat and he is not called Han Solo by ever fan that approaches. I am sure there are some that do that, but I am pretty sure he also gets the benefit of the doubt. It is almost like people forget about reality when they meet an adult performer, it is just strange to me, always will be. I mean, I know a beautiful woman is supposed to make a person go mentally crazy but not that fucking bad right? So, to stick with this beat on fans, let’s talk about some fan stuff. I am sure every fan reading wants to know if you did watch porn before you got into the industry.

Linzee Ryder: Well, let’s be honest, who hasn’t watched porn? I would watch porn every once in a while, but I would not get as interactive with it as I am now. I guess you can say that I have gained a much deeper appreciation for it now as an art form. I am now really watching it from a different perspective you know what I mean. I find that I am liking porn even more now. When I use to watch porn, it was here and there, and I did not watch enough to where I really had favorite actors or anything like that I will admit. So, yes, the answer is, I did watch a porn or two. (We share a laugh. Her laugh is so quick and hypnotic.)

Linzee Ryder

Don Juan: I dig it, so this is going to lead up into a secondary question later in the interview, but I dig you admit that because like you said, the truth is that everybody does watch it. You know, I truly am going to rooting for your success, you are so well spoken. I have interviewed so many starlets, some of the biggest the industry has ever seen from Nina Hartley to Angela White and you are so well spoken. A model’s first two years are the true test of the business because of the sheer volume of models entering these days but I honestly hope you stick with it.

Linzee Ryder: Yes, there are so many beautiful and talented models in this business.

Don Juan: As are you Linzee. I have seen some of the clips of your scenes and you are natural in front of the camera. Your ability to be so well spoken and to the point that puts you ahead of a large portion of the people entering this business I shit you not.

Linzee Ryder: Oh, well thank you, I appreciate that.

Don Juan: You are so welcome. You know, being that you are in this business for the right reasons and have been doing this for so long when it comes to performance. I would love to know, what are your goals within the adult film portion of this business?

Linzee Ryder: My goal I would say continues off some of the things we were talking about earlier. I love to learn and learning this side of adult entertainment is something meaningful to me. To keep growing as a person and a performer, that is probably the most important thing to me. I want to be the best at what I do Don. I approach everything I have ever done in all walks of this business to be the very best that I can be. Learning every portion of film making, that is a big goal for me as well. To be honest with you once again Don, being new to making a film, I am very nervous when arriving on set, I do get a bit of anxiety still, I think anyone would. I want to be able to conquer that aspect of my acting career. I think it takes practice and passion to do that. I look at every scene that I do, and I am kind of freaking out, wondering how everything turned out. I always say to myself, “did everything come out the best way that it could” and I second guess myself a lot of times because I am so new at this. I have looked at a few scenes and, in my head, I am saying, “no, I did this wrong, I did this wrong. Now I know how to do this better next time.” I am that person. I think the other big thing that every performer wants to do is grow a massive fan base and I am no exception. I want to grow my fan base substantially; I want fans to be apart of my OnlyFans and see how much I do love what I do for a living.

Don Juan: I think once again, you display how much of an artist you are. My camera crew, the producers and artists that I work with, they are always seeing the flaws in their own work and they will not publish something and being the editor that I am, I will tell them, no one sees these flaws that you see but that is the mark of a true artist.

Linzee Ryder: I think that a lot of people tell me that. Dancers that I have worked with have said things like, “I did not get this right or this right.” I tell them how amazing they looked on stage. The shoot that I did last night, the girls were so beautiful, and they were spot on with their posing and I felt very awkward because they were all models and not dancers or performers like I am used to. We were doing poses like a dancer would and they did not feel comfortable with what they were doing. I was telling these girls all shoot long, “everybody looks great!” Everyone is their own worst critic truthfully!

Don Juan: Well, only real artists are. Some people, they could care less what is going on, they are there just to collect a paycheck. I call them air breathers. I have seen these people everywhere in writing, in publishing, in design, in acting and modeling. You see that there are people who do not belong, and they are here and perhaps, that is the irony of success and showbusiness that you must compete with that as well. I think that speaks volumes about yourself. Here is a new starlet who wants to already sharpen her skills after just a few shoots and is not happy if she is not moving forward. That is awesome madam. So, we are going to be seeing you in these big feature films. That is cool.

Linzee Ryder: I sure hope so, that would be a dream come true. I would be honored to take part in such things within this industry.

Don Juan: Well darlin’ you already have two of the three major tools needed to reach that plateau. When you make your rounds in California and if you go for some of these major casting calls, your speaking skills and beauty with make any production assistant or producer say, “book her,” that isn’t no bullshit!  I am so excited for you.

Linzee Ryder: Thank you once again. Oh, my anxiety would have me climbing the walls in certain ways, so I really appreciate you saying that.

Don Juan: I think that only artists, people with amazing work ethics have anxiety. These fucking clowns these days that give it such a bad name because they are lazy both physically and mentally, they never put themselves out there like an artist does. It is not easy to have your work evaluated by others. Seeing your pictorials and how you pose, I would have never guessed in a million years that you have anxiety. There were some shots I have seen of you and my first thought was, “damn, this woman knows what she is doing.” You are the person who makes every photographers job easy. Most people will never tell you that. We live in a world were giving each other thanks is something from the past not seen very often. So, this one kind of circles back to watching a little bit of adult cinema. Who are the two performers that you are dying to work with and that you have had a porn crush on, since you got into the business?

Linzee Ryder: Oh my God! Well, if I actually got to work with them, I would freak out most likely, but my biggest porn crush and you mentioned her before has to be Angela White. I think she is just amazing! She does such good work. She is the most astonishing thing to watch. So, definitely Angela White. I am kind of scared to say this, but I have actually worked with him already and I think that he is just so incredible, to not only watch but to work with was something I will never forget. Lucas Frost, he is really awesome.

Don Juan: Ooooooohhhh, I love Lucas. He is such a cool dude. Handsome as fuck too. I love that dude; we have shared pictures of our doggies on Twitter. I love animal nuts. They are the best of people.

Linzee Ryder

Linzee Ryder: Awwwwww, yeah, I think he has a new dog now. Or he got another one, one of the two.

Don Juan: Yes, he is truly good people. One of the most awesome guys in the business. I dig seeing people like Lucas in the industry. He is the type of man that is becoming a bit more of the norm in the world. People like Lucas I think are a new breed of man and trust me, we have needed some good guys in this business like him for many moons and thankfully, they are becoming more common. Of course, the last question is, are there any projects that you can talk about that are coming up?

Linzee Ryder: Well, I have just completed a shoot with Naughty America, I was so excited about shooting with them. By the time this interview comes out, I think that scene will have dropped, so I am really looking forward to having the fans take a look at that work.

Don Juan: I think you are going to knock em dead darlin’! So, in closing, is there anything that you wish to tell the fans to end this amazing interview?

Linzee Ryder: Yes, I want to tell all my fans how much I appreciate them. They are the reason that I am on this path and always looking to grow and make better films, better performances. They are a big part of that. It is also because of them I am at where I am at right now, so hopefully, I continue to go on this journey with them by my side for years to come.
