Sexy Celebs Face Off During Spicy “Hot Ones Versus” Challenges

POP CULTURE

Hot Ones Versus takes us beyond what Hot Ones host Sean Evans has dared. We already know that there’s nothing as fascinating, laugh-inspiring, and libido-tickling as watching beautiful women eat increasingly spicy chicken wings while being interviewed. But Evans has more than one way to satisfy our sexy sauce cravings. With Hot Ones Versus, we get not just one but two celebrities who feel the burn and savor the spice while they play a highly personal Truth or Dare type card game. Three of these four challenges feature a male and a female competitor, some of whom are real-life couples or siblings. These are gustatory battles of the sexes. The fewer hot wings eaten, the more likely you are to earn the Golden Chicken Wing trophy. Let the games begin![/embedyt]

Becky Lynch versus Seth Rollins

12:27 minutes
Fans of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) are familiar with Seth “Freakin’” Rollins and his spunky Irish wife, Becky “The Man” Lynch. The two professional wrestlers face off during this episode of Hot Ones Versus and it’s easy to see the love they share for one another as they try to answer questions correctly or suffer the wrath of increasingly hot and saucy chicken wings. No matter which way you swing, there’s candy in the candy shop. Seth with his manly topknot, Becky in her red leather jacket; what’s not to love?

They sit across from one another, doing their best to not eat wings and, especially on his side, failing. He downs the first two wings, in part due to a Marvel NDA. It’s not bad but it gets worse, he concludes. Becky’s red foam clown nose and her near ability to juggle save her from savoring the sauce. Alas, she’s no match for him in thumb wrestling and so, against her best interests, she takes a bite and immediately regrets it. It provides perfect comedy fodder for Seth. Then it’s Couples Test time. Becky must guess her handsome hubby’s teen crush. She fails. She does better with wing two and downs some milk to heal the roof of her mouth.

It’s early for Seth to gloat because he has no idea who Boy Zone was, let alone who its members were. His wing makes him cough hard, but not as hard as his next challenge, which is to say three nice things about fellow wrestler CM Punk, who he does not like. This ain’t gonna happen, so it’s wing time. “One thing nice I’ll say about him, he’s a man of conviction. So am I,” Seth pronounces before he takes a chomp. His is the last card. What is wifey Becky’s pet peeve about living with him?

“You’re just so easy to live with, honeybunch. My biggest pet peeve is your unreadable face. My biggest pet peeve is your face. You never know, is he mad? Is he happy? Is he sad? Is he depressed? He’s just got the most unreadable face,” she replies. Their great chemistry is obvious when he agrees that this does piss her off. “You’re just stern and tall and dark and handsome,” wife Becky concludes.

This is when Seth, however handsome he may be, must admit defeat. He hands a triumphant Becky the Golden Chicken Wing trophy. “I think this is the first trophy that I’ve really won. As somebody who never excelled at anything in my life, it is really, truly an honor to have won in some kind of chicken wing eating contest,” she said modestly. Then, the scrappy 5’6” multi-title holder hyped her new book, Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl.

Billie Eilish versus Finneas

14:14 minutes
Younger sister Billie Eilish and her older brother and professional collaborator, Finneas clearly like each other a lot. Enough to still be friends after they put many spicy vegan chicken wings in their mouths during Hot Ones Versus when they fail to answer enough Truth or Dare type card game questions correctly. Finneas starts, instructing his little sister to reveal her last Notes entry aloud. It is so sweet. It’s a message about how beautiful her and her father’s eyes are. Aww… but mom thinks dad’s eyes look like bird eyes, like baby dinosaur eyes, so I’m not sure if it’s a compliment. Round 2 ends with us learning that Finneas puts his dirty feet on the desk near Billie’s face when they work together.

During Round 2, the heat is really on, and Billie has to rate her style icon fashion choices, some of which are truly horrific. She loves anime, which makes sense since she’s a hot piece of anime art herself, sad looks and all. She pulls it off, but Finneas declines to name the person he’ll never work with again. He eats the wing; wipes his face with a black napkin, and we move on to two Sibling Test cards in a row. Billie can’t guess her brother’s favorite Billie Eilish song and looks surprisingly sexy biting into her wing. “It’s great,” she assures. “It’s a little hard to think.”

Finneas has no such excuse when he guesses his baby sister’s biggest fear as a child wrong. He thinks it’s being flushed down the toilet, but she assures him it is the Salt Monster from the original Star Trek. That’s another wing for the multi-Grammy-winning bro to savor. “It’s not hard to deal with” he assures. After all, the first one is still lingering on his mucus membranes. His sister follows, unwilling to rank four of her influences. Her brother joins her in a nosh, just because he’s snackish. Billie, on the other hand, is hoping to avoid ever having another spicy chicken wing on her tongue.

The last card is a Wild Card. Dabs of sauce are added to each sibling’s wing, and a card is drawn. The brother-sister creative team must compliment one another. The first to crack a smile eats a supercharged chicken wing. They do a great job of speaking kindly to each other, so they decide to each eat a wing. “It’s disgusting,” she says about the chicken wing. The gallant older brother lets his angsty little sister add the Golden Chicken Wing trophy to her trophy collection and then she encourages fans to check out her new song, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”

Lux Wright versus Steve-O

14:32 minutes
Black leather biker jacket-wearing Lux Wright has been engaged to bespectacled and nerdish Steve-O since 2018. With the survival of their lips and tongues at stake during Hot Ones Versus, the stylist and set producer, as well as the Jackass star and famous on-camera masochist, had better have learned a few things about each other. If they get the answers to enough Truth or Dare type card game questions about each other wrong, it’s a mouthful of sauce in punishment.

Lux pulls the first card, so Steve must share a time when he butted creative heads with Johnny Knoxville. Let’s just say the conflict was resolved when the boss decided there were already “too many dicks.” It’s Lux’s turn to answer a question now. In seven years together, what has been their biggest disagreement? Thus unfolds the tale of an alarm clock and a pretty fiancé abandoned at a sushi restaurant because of it. So far, no mucus membranes have been endangered.

Round 2 challenges Steve to relive his history as a clown. If he can ride a unicycle around the set without wiping out, he’s safe. He can’t, so he’s not. Since he’s a pescatarian (look it up), his sauce is on a big ole broccoli floret. He chews it slowly, his eyes growing wider. “My lips are dead,” he moans before a sip of milk. Next up is the confession of a lie. Lux gets halfway through before choosing to savor the flavor of a spicy hot wing. “Next question,” she urges before sharing a tingling kiss across the table.

Steve’s responses to a Jackass-themed Fuck, Marry, Pass are hilarious. Likewise, when he gets her biggest turn-on and turn-off wrong. “What wonderful, thoughtful writers of these questions,” Steve snarks through the pain of another floret of broccoli. The second round ends with Lux loving the taste of the ever-warming sauce on another wing. Round 3’s two challenges relate to romance. First, they must pledge their love with Beavis and Butthead voices. They both laugh, eat their hot sauce conveyance food, and convince us of their love. On that subject, the final card asks Steve why they’re not married yet. His answer is surprisingly romantic and involves their Radical Ranch Animal Sanctuary. They down one more wing/broccoli in solidarity.

Miranda Cosgrove versus Joey King

14:42 minutes
Miranda Cosgrove and Joey King aren’t engaged, married, or siblings. They are both accomplished actors whose voices worked together on Despicable Me 4. This has not missed the notice of the writers in charge of the Truth or Dare style card game that Hot Ones Versus tells the two comely talents to play well or suffer the wrath of the Last Dab. Throughout their mutually assured tastebud destruction, they are the most delightful, entertaining, and charming eye candy with a penchant for laughter and suffering.

First, they’re supposed to use Minion voices on one another without laughing. Miranda who finds herself hilarious. “It’s really hot. It’s hitting. It’s one of those things that gets worse with time.” It’s Joey’s time to bond with her modestly attired co-worker when she refuses to reveal her last text to “Daddy” Sabrina Carpenter. Instead, the cartoon voice cuties agree that the wing’s flavor is good but overpowered by the heat. It’s almost vengeance served when Miranda is told to rank three YouTube celebs, including Hot Ones host Sean Evans. “I can’t do that,” brown-haired Miranda states and promptly finds out that bite number two starts out fine and then punches hard.

Round 2 proves challenging for Miranda, who can not remember her work-friend’s comfort TV show despite it having been mentioned before shooting began. Miranda fails the turn but freaks out her Emmy-winning friend. Given that it became a meme, the second question is a gimme. The writers make up for it during Round 3 when they instruct the talented two to draw each other and reveal without laughing. Hilarity ensues, Miranda eats a wing, says the spice makes it hard to think and eats the other side of her wing. Soon it’s Joey’s turn to refuse to rank people. This time it’s three of Taylor Swift’s past and present boyfriends. She knows it’s a trap and says, “That’s an insane question. What kind of person would answer that question” before eating her now-cold wing.

The two thespians talk about breathing techniques until each must choose one of three Spaghetti Tacos. One is spicy, two are safe. They choose wisely. The final card of the game and only card of Round 4 requires Joey to have a sensitive and sophisticated nose. She likes to cook so, with a blindfold and a baker’s hat on, she must recognize three edible items by smell. Basil and blue cheese are easy, but what is the gag-inducing contents of the final plate? Not what she guesses, so, although she wins the Golden Chicken Wing trophy, she confesses that she feels “like a fuckin’ loser right now” because she’s in tears, coughing, and in pain. To the victor go the spoils.
