Kink Changes Performer Policies Following Alleged Rape/Sexual Assaults by James Deen

Kink Launches New Performer Protocols 

Following the alleged rape and sexual assault on performers Ashley Fires and Lily LaBeau by AVN Male Performer/Director of the Year nominee James Deen, fetish production company Kink has revised their "performer bill of rights" and has implemented other changes that emphasize consent in their doings while shooting for the company.

Vocativ was provided the new performer guidelines and include a larger emphasis on consent and on reporting inappropriate/unsafe conduct, along with performers being escorted to and from Kink shoots by Kink employees.

Performer Katja Kassin has recently told The Daily Beast of her limits on a Kink set for their Bound Gangbangs site being ignored in a 2012 scene that took place on a men's bathroom set.  Kassin agreed to have her head dunked in a toilet during a scene under the condition that the toilet be sanitized and one toilet was made ready for this purpose.  Her male co-stars allegedly decided to dunk her into another toilet, against her stated limits.

“The male performers dragged me towards a bathroom stall and attempted to dunk my head in the toilet even though I made it clear I do not consent,” Kassin told The Daily Beast. “I said no several times but it took me using physical force and pushing off the guys to stop the scene. The director made no attempt to interrupt the scene. She did not intervene.”

Kassin went on to say that the director allegedly told her that she might not get paid in full for the scene if she did not complete it.

Kink requires that several documents be signed by performers prior to scenes being shot and these two revised documents now contain the formerly-present right for any condom to require condoms to be used on set and that the safe word "red" can be used to stop any scene along with the new assertion that  "I understand that no one has a right to my body besides me, on-set or off. No one has the right to physical contact with me, on set or off, without my consent."  Instructions on how to report any abuses are given and are encouraged in the new documents.  Performers will also be meeting with the talent department following any shoot to check in on their experiences working for the company.

The new documents state that models have a right to use a private restroom or shower if they request it. Many of the bathrooms at the Kink studios are communal.  Fires alleged that her assault by Deen happened in a Kink communal shower/restroom area.

The company also indicates in the new documents that they have a zero tolerance policy regarding any abuse and/or assault on performers and suggests that performers not be alone in the Kink building without having a Kink employee present for them.

Deen has denied all allegations of sexual assault/rape that have been made against him.  Kink has cut all ties with Deen.
