The Catholic Church Wants Those Naked Women To Step Away From The Casket

Despite the fact that the new head of their religion is constantly trying to push them into the 21st century, the Catholic Church is just fine still living in the days of Torquemada. Take their latest crusade against Polish casket company Lindner for example. This year, Lindner has plans to release a calendar featuring nude women posing with Lindner's products, but the Polish Catholic Church is putting their collective foot down.

According to The Mirror (link below), the company has noble intentions, despite the opposition from the church.

This bizarre calendar shoot of topless models caressing coffins is set to become a global hit - despite strict opposition from the Catholic Church.

But its creators deny its a cheap attempt to flog coffins, claiming it is intended to show the strength, energy and elegance of women.

Lindner apparently can't win, either, particularly with fans of their annual calendar that has as much to do with coffins as Pirelli's calendar has to do with tires.

Spokesman for the company Bartek Lindner said: "Every edition is different and when we have too many women, female customers complain. But when we have too many men, male customers complain."

Lindner added: "We wanted to show that a coffin shouldn't be a sacred object - it's furniture, it's the last bed you'll ever sleep in. It isn't a religious symbol. It's a product."

Right, so what's the Catholic Church's beef here then?

The Catholic church in Poland has labelled the campaign inappropriate.

A church spokesman has said that human death should be treated with solemnity and not mixed up with sex.

Right, because naked women on a coffin is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from necrophilia, right?
