It Takes A Ton Of Patience And Precision To Make “Naked Love”

TV/MOVIES

It Takes A Ton Of Patience And Precision To Make "Naked Love""Naked Love" is a rather appropriately named animation by two Danish artists, Sara Koppel and Sune Køter. Koppel describes it as "an erotic film free of all sorts of oppressive factors" that you can watch "without becoming a hidden beholder who might get a bad conscience afterwards." Not sure what it means? Us neither! But this is breathtaking animation.

Unfortunately, "Naked Love" isn't yet finished; the team plans on making their movie fifteen to twenty minutes long, and so far they only have three minutes and twenty-eight seconds. Since every second consists of twelve frames, that means Koppel has drawn 2,469 pages! And she still has so far to go!

Since the movie isn't ready, you can watch previews and behind-the-scenes footage as Køter and Koppel discuss their visions, their process, and why they feel "Naked Love" needs to be made. The very convenient "Why?" section of their website says:

"We want to make a film that is challening the traditional stereotypic porn view on sex, a film without the bad vibes of sexual professionalism or the artlessness of amateurism. The handdrawn animation movie is the tool, because it is an artform that is as fantastic, funny and touching as sex itself, bringing the erotic to life in a passionate, aesthetic and ethical manner."

We're still a bit confused about their criticisms and explanations (we guess we're hidden beholders or something), but we have to admit that "Naked Love" has vibes so good and cozy that they're practically transcendental. If you watch a minute or two of their work-in-progress, you can see the intense fixation that Koppel has on hands: how they work, how they interact with the world and each other, the way hands guide us to people we love, etc. We can't wait to see more!
