Porn Valley Dispatch: The Ballad of Luke And Holly

She is the heartbreaking scioness of a porn dynasty. He is a self-hating, self-obsessed trailblazer from the wrong side of the International Date Line.

The romance of lifeblogger Luke Ford and porn photographer Holly Randall was the too-much-information-rich stuff of endless scrolling on Ford's website earlier this year, and it struck adult industry writer Cindi Loftus to give the two of them a break from the first person in an intriguing series of posts on her site this week.

"Luke only writes what people tell him," said veteran adult director Rob Spallone, who ten years ago became the first major victim of Ford's musings about porn's ties to the Mob, and takes credit for "launching Luke Ford" , a person whose websites feed the adult industry's need for any kind of attention.

"He'll retract it when he finds out it's wrong," Spallone said, "but it'll be on his site almost before you're done saying it."

Years before anyone else thought to do it, Ford, now 40, made blogging about porn interesting on sites almost devoid of pictures. Along the way, he has been sued for libel, beat up, excoriated, and read simultaneously reluctantly and avidly, every day, His moral indignation about the adult industry matched his attraction to it.

"God, may I please soon reach the day when I don't have to write about anybody in porn," Ford told me.

In addition to people in porn, Ford writes about Hollywood (particularly Jewish Hollywood—he converted to Judaism after being brought up a fringe Seventh Day Adventist in his native Australia), his struggles with G-d, and his love life which, until Randall, had been disappointing.

Randall, in her late 20's, has always been exposed to porn, catching porn actor Randy West masturbating for her mother Suze's camera when the younger Randall was a tot. Now Holly photographs billboards for Hustler and directs her own movies.

Ford began blogging about Randall, and Randall willingly agreed to be blogged about, as soon as the unlikely pair began dating.

The rest is in Loftus' site, complete with pictures of Ford when he began looking like his adult self at his eighth grade graduation.

I asked Ford what it was like to be the Written About person for a change.

"I am keenly conscious of where I am vulnerable," he said. "Cindi is a friend who would never knowingly hurt me, therefore I have no fear about her series.

"If a friend is writing about me, I have little fear. If an enemy and they are good at what they do (is writing about me), I have fear."

"Fear is the opposite of love. God is love," I said.

"Yeah, but He does not write about me in earthly publications," he said.
