Mutantmo’s Top Five Adult Movies of 2022

I watched a ton of movies recently, they were part of the allotted screenings for the industry voting that tends to cluster at the end of the year. The big shows usually pop off at the beginning of the next year so at the end of this current year we adult film critics crunch as much porn watching as possible. This is on top of all the stuff we have to review regularly. So I feel that I've witnessed a nice chunk of XXX movies to sift out some of my favorites of the year. Here is my end-of-the-year list of the best adult movies I watched in 2022.

1. Going Up (Lust Cinema)- Starring: Anna Claire Clouds, Brad Newman, Charlotte Sartre, Derrick Pierce, Isiah Maxwell, Kira Noir, Lilly Bell, Maya Woulfe, Ryan Keely, Seth Gamble, Sonia Harcourt, Tyler Knight, Victoria Voxxx

I was blown away by this one. Going Up is an adult film about an opening night for a play and what it takes for it to reach the stage.  Couple this with some of the best acting and sizzling sex performances I’ve seen from many of the adult performers in it. Industry legend Tyler Knight has a major part in Going Up just to give you an idea of how satisfying this release was for a porn fan like me. Lust Cinema is the one responsible for unleashing yet another shining directorial effort from Casey Calvert (who has a cameo in the film). The story had me vying to see what would happen next as the chaos of opening night was counted down during each of the six episodes. As the hours whittled away to show time the suspense was building to see if they could pull through with getting this play on stage. Entwined in all of this you’ll find the hot XXX sex infused into this engaging story. The real treat was forgetting that I was watching a porno because the acting was so good. I was then surprised by a scorcher of a sex scene hitting the screen each time.

2. STARS (Adult Time)- Starring: Aiden Ashley, Bree Mills, Cameron Hannibal Damage, Dale Savage, Jane Wilde, Oliver Flynn, Robby Echo, Ryan Reid, Seth Gamble, Tommy Pistol

“Straight from the horse's mouth" as the saying goes and this applies directly to hearing about the sex worker experience in the adult industry. To put it bluntly, if you want to know about the sex worker experience you have to hear about it from the sex workers themselves. Adult Time's STARS takes this to a whole new level as Jane Wilde tells her origin story of becoming one of porn's top performers through a biopic-like format. You'll see her shed tears through tragedy to ultimately stand in front of a mirror in triumph as a tale based on the beginnings of her successful porn career unfolds on the screen. It takes a grind to get to the glamour and this movie's character named "Julia" has one of the best depictions of that so far. Don't rely on mainstream movies to tell porn's story. Especially when we have Bree Mills and Jane Wilde bringing a story based on truth to the table. This easily made it on my favorites list and should be on anyone’s list if they consider themselves a fan of the adult industry.

3. Maid To Kill (Sparks Entertainment)- Starring: Aiden Ashley, Ana Foxxx, Anna Claire Clouds, Isiah Maxwell, Kira Noir, Lily Larimar

The beauty of voting on these industry awards panels is that I’m exposed to stuff that I don’t normally watch. Sparks Entertainment wasn’t on my radar admittedly until it came across my desk during the hustle of awards season. I had no idea what Maid To Kill was when I went in (what is it another French Maid-themed porno?). I'm so happy I did, it ended up being a great mixture of science fiction and XXX. The computer-generated effects added to the overall cyberpunk vibe and imbued the film's theme and setting snugly. Yes, the film is about maids but not the type you are used to seeing in most porn movies. It is the distant future and sex is outlawed, anyone caught in the act by the many drones that patrol the skies is relegated to serve as a "maid" to the futuristic elite as punishment. An interesting plot that rewards us with another quality adult movie that has Aiden Ashley acting her ass off as the villain, Lily Larimar leading the movie as the main character, and Isiah Maxwell shining among them. Kira Noir having an important role in this movie is the cherry on top.

4. Spideypool XXX (Wicked Pictures)- Starring: Anna Foxxx, Blake Blossom, James Bartholet, Kenna James, Kenzie Taylor, Marc Kramer, Ryan Driller, Seth Gamble, Tyler Cruise

I said this before and I'll say this again if you're a porn nerd and a comic book geek then Axel Braun is your guy. He’s braved these nerdy waters before, see his other works such as Black Widow XXX, and he’s back again sailing the seas of sleazy superhero flicks. In his latest directorial outing, you’ll see him imaginatively play with Spider-Man and Deadpool like they are his toys. With accurate comic book references galore in between all the hot sex to keep horny geeks happy. You’ll see Spidey take on the sexy version of Gwen Stacy aka Ghost-Spider played by, the 2022 NightMoves Female Performer of the Year, Blake Blossom. Seth Gamble reprises his role as the XXX version of Ryan Reynolds as he nails the role (and all the hot babes) once again. Tyler Cruise is our Peter Parker and he nails the role along with Blake Blossom in this cum-filled comic book movie.

5. Grinders (Adult Time)- Starring: Charlotte Sins, Lilly Bell, Liv Revamped, Lucky Fate, Maya Woulfe, Nathan Bronson, Robby Echo, Tommy Pistol, Vanna Bardot, Vicki Chase

This porno takes place in the late 90s and it nails the setting since it feels like one of those MTV shows from that era except with hardcore sex. The plot is suitable for following a youthful bunch of characters going to parties, skateboarding, and finding young love. Maya Woulfe's scene with Lucky Fate is a visceral fuck scene that happens on a rooftop underneath a California night sky. I reviewed Grinders on this very site and described Ricky Greenwood's plot-driven venture as having retained its porno purpose;

“ The sex is hot for those that watch porn to strictly stroke. Grinders also came with two well-filmed cream pies, anal and vaginal, in two separate sex scenes. The sexual performances were firing on all cylinders..”

This year has been a banner year for adult films as I was exposed to some real pieces of cinematic art that happened to have sex in them. On top of all that the adult film industry kept a steady flow of hot gonzo content on the other side of the aisle for this type of appreciated entertainment. Here is to 2023 being filled with more quality fuck flicks and scorching hot sex scenes to watch.
