Adria Rae Issues Public Apology to Emily Willis

LEGAL NEWS

Last October, Emily Willis filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against Gianna Dior and Adria Rae. Emily Willis’ lawsuit against Gianna Dior and Adria Rae, seeks more than $5 million in compensatory damages as well as punitive damages.

In the lawsuit, the defendants’ “lies” are described as “direct attacks on the plaintiff’s ability to earn a livelihood.” Members of the adult entertainment industry are heavy users of Twitter, which they use to communicate both amongst themselves and with the general public.”

According to the lawsuit, Gianna Dior and Adria Rae each tweeted the false accusation that Willis was a participant in a video with a dog.

“By doing so, they made their lies available to the general public as well as to the entire community of plaintiff’s potential employers and co-workers,” the lawsuit claims in part. As a result of Willis’ insult, Dior “apparently assumed it was directed at her” and “published her lie about the dog video in response.”

The biggest reason for filing the lawsuit is that aside from the obvious economic harm, the lawsuit claims that the incident was “extremely embarrassing and distressing.” “But, even worse, she may never have the opportunity to fully clear her name in the eyes of a large number of others in the industry and the general public.”

And she’s not wrong. When someone starts telling people things like this about you, does the rumor ever really go away?

But in the end, defamation lawsuits can be costly so Adria Rae and Emily Willis came to an undisclosed agreement. We don’t know the terms of that agreement but Adria Rae did make a public apology.

The case against Gianna Dior is still ongoing.
