Lucy Banks may be one of Australia’s most popular media personalities and content creators, but at home, she’s just Mom. So what happens when worlds collide – and the online fantasy meets a sobering dose of reality?
“Someone told my kid that I do OnlyFans, and my son asked me straight out one day about my very adult secret,” said Banks of the inevitable – and somewhat uncomfortable – conversation that followed her child’s shock admission.
“I asked him if he knew what OnlyFans was, and he responded, ‘It’s where you sell nudes.’ Someone in his life had told him this information, but he wouldn’t tell me who it was. So I asked him, ‘How do you feel about it?’ and was surprised by his answer.”
Banks revealed that her son wasn’t particularly bothered by his mom’s racy online career. “He told me, ‘It’s fine. Who cares? People do worse things for money – have you heard of hitmen?’ This led to an open, healthy dialogue, and I told him to come to me if he had any more questions about my job. He said, ‘If you’re happy, then that makes me happy.’”
As OnlyFans moms face outrage, trolling, and animosity from other adults, Banks knows that their children can often fall victim to bullying, discrimination, and expulsion from schools. “Luckily, we aren’t having such issues, although I’ve personally seen my share of unforgiving judgment from parents and neighbours.
“This is a disgusting example of how OnlyFans creators are met with so much stigma and judgement. Someone tried to turn my child against me by telling him about my job, but joke is on them because he is so cruisy and is proud of me for providing for my children as a solo parent.”
