Male Performer in Notorious GirlsDoPorn Case Pleads Guilty to Federal Charges

LEGAL NEWS STRAIGHT

Former male performer Douglas Wiederhold, who worked for GirlsDoPorn, has entered a guilty plea to a federal conspiracy charge. This plea marks the latest conviction in a series of actions against the site’s operators, who are accused of a complex sex trafficking scheme that deceived women into appearing in pornographic videos under false pretenses.

Wiederhold, who appeared in over 70 videos for the San Diego-based website GirlsDoPorn, admitted his role in the conspiracy during a court session on Thursday.

His involvement with GirlsDoPorn spanned a brief period between 2011 and 2012, but the implications of his actions have had long-lasting effects on the victims.

According to federal prosecutors, the operators of GirlsDoPorn lured women with the promise that the films they appeared in would only be sold to private buyers outside the United States.

Contrary to these assurances, the videos were widely disseminated on the internet, leading to significant personal and professional repercussions for the women involved.

Court documents revealed that Wiederhold personally reassured at least two women that their videos would not appear online, fully aware that similar assurances given to other women had already been broken. This deceit was a calculated component of the broader strategy to exploit and profit from the victims’ trust and vulnerability.

Douglas Wiederhold is also the co-owner of MomPOV.com, which has since been taken down.

The Wiederhold GirlsDoPorn plea agreement comes as part of a larger crackdown on the criminal activities associated with GirlsDoPorn, which has seen several key figures brought to justice. Notably, porn actor Ruben Andre Garcia received a 20-year prison sentence, and Matthew Isaac Wolfe, a business partner in the operation, was sentenced to 14 years. Videographer Theodore Gyi and administrative assistant Valorie Moser also face their respective penalties, with Moser still awaiting sentencing.

The case against GirlsDoPorn gained notoriety not only for the criminal activities but also for the extensive civil litigation that followed. A San Diego judge previously awarded 22 women nearly $13 million in damages after a civil trial, which highlighted the extensive damage inflicted on the lives of the plaintiffs.

Further complicating the legacy of GirlsDoPorn, the website’s content became the subject of additional lawsuits involving more than 100 women against the parent company of the prominent porn-streaming site PornHub. These lawsuits accused PornHub of profiting from the trafficking operation by hosting the controversial videos. The streaming giant settled these suits and also agreed to a $1.8 million settlement with federal prosecutors, who argued that PornHub should have known it was receiving proceeds from sex trafficking.

Wiederhold is scheduled for sentencing in July by U.S. District Judge Janis Sammartino, who has presided over the related cases.

As the legal proceedings continue, particularly with website owner Michael James Pratt awaiting trial following his extradition from Spain, the impact of the GirlsDoPorn case continues to resonate through the legal and adult industry.
