Talent Testing Service is Reporting a Slight Rise in Chlamydia

Talent Testing Service (TTS) has released the April 2024 update on positivity rates for various sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The data reflects trends in positivity rates across different demographics, providing crucial insights for industry professionals and stakeholders.

Overall Trends: Chlamydia Urine Tests

  • Total Rate: Increased from 0.5% to 1.0%.
  • Male Rate: Rose slightly from 0.7% to 0.9%.
  • Female Rate: Saw a significant increase from 0.2% to 1.2%.

These rates have shown a steady decline since peaking in November 2022, and although there has been a recent uptick, current levels remain within expectations, given the historical average of around 2.0%.

Gonorrhea Urine Tests

  • Total Rate: Unchanged at 0.2%.
  • Male Rate: Decreased from 0.4% to 0.2%.
  • Female Rate: Dropped from 0.7% to 0.2%.

This marks the third consecutive month of downward trends, with rates consistently remaining within typical levels.

Syphilis Tests

  • Total Rate: Unchanged at 0.4%.
  • Male Rate: Decreased from 0.3% to 0.1%.
  • Female Rate: Increased from 0.5% to 0.8%.

Despite the fluctuating trends, current positivity rates fall within the general range of 0.0% to 1.5%.

HIV Tests

  • Total Rate: Unchanged at 4.7%.
  • Male Rate: Increased from 3.7% to 4.9%.
  • Female Rate: Decreased from 5.6% to 4.6%.

While the total rate remains stable, differing trends are observed between male and female groups.

Swab Tests (Chlamydia Rectal, Throat & Gonorrhea Rectal, Throat)

  • Chlamydia Rectal:
    • Total Rate: Increased from 1.5% to 1.8%.
    • Male Rate: Decreased from 1.7% to 1.2%.
    • Female Rate: Increased from 1.4% to 2.4%.
  • Chlamydia Throat:
    • Total Rate: Consistently below 1.0%.
    • Male Rate: Increased slightly to 0.1%.
  • Gonorrhea Rectal:
    • Total Rate: Unchanged at 0.7%.
    • Male Rate: Increased from 0.6% to 1.0%.
    • Female Rate: Decreased from 0.7% to 0.4%.
  • Gonorrhea Throat:
    • Total Rate: Unchanged at 1.2%.
    • Male Rate: Increased from 0.7% to 1.3%.
    • Female Rate: Decreased from 1.6% to 1.2%.

The trendlines demonstrate varied behavior across different swab tests, with the Gonorrhea Rectal lines showing greater volatility since April 2023.
