Talent Testing Service (TTS), the leading provider of health testing services for the entertainment industry, has published its June 2024 update on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) positivity rates.

This release highlights the latest trends in Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomonas Vaginalis, and Mycoplasma Genitalium, providing a comprehensive view of the current state of STD infections among talents.

Chlamydia Urine – Positivity Index

The Chlamydia Urine positivity rates show a consistent trend over time, including a steady decline from the peak observed in November 2022. In June 2024, all rates converged at 1.4%. The overall (Total) rate increased slightly from 1.2% in May. The Female rate dropped from 1.5%, while the Male rate increased from 0.9%. Historically, levels have been around 2.0%, so the current rates are considered within expected ranges.

GC (Gonorrhea) Urine – Positivity Index

In June 2024, the Female rate rose again to 1.2% from 0.9%. The Total rate also increased to 0.7% from 0.5%, and the Male rate slightly rose to 0.3% from 0.2%. The trendline indicates that while the Female rate is slightly above the trend, the other two rates remain within the expected trend range.

Trichomonas Vaginalis Urine – Positivity Index

The positivity index for Trichomonas Vaginalis Urine saw an increase in June 2024, with the Female rate rising to 0.7% from 0.4% and the Total rate increasing to 0.4% from 0.3%. The Male rate dropped to 0.0% from 0.2%. These rates remain within the general range of 0.0% to 1.5%.

Mycoplasma Genitalium Urine – Positivity Index

For Mycoplasma Genitalium Urine, the Total rate increased to 4.1% from 3.7%, and the Female rate rose to 5.4% from 4.7%. The Male rate slightly decreased to 2.6% from 2.7%.

Chlamydia & GC (Gonorrhea) Throat and Rectal Swabs – Positivity Index

The positivity rates for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea in throat and rectal swabs show distinct patterns. Since December 2022, there has been a noticeable peak, followed by a general downward trend.

  • Chlamydia Rectal Swabs: In June 2024, all rates decreased. The Total rate fell to 1.3% from 1.8%, the Female rate to 1.8% from 2.0%, and the Male rate to 0.7% from 1.7%.
  • Chlamydia Throat Swabs: Rates remained stable, with the Male rate at 0.2% from 0.3%, the Total rate unchanged at 0.3%, and the Female rate steady at 0.4%.
  • Gonorrhea Rectal Swabs: This category showed volatility. The Total rate dropped to 0.7% from 1.1%, the Female rate increased to 1.0% from 0.6%, and the Male rate decreased to 0.3% from 1.7%.
  • Gonorrhea Throat Swabs: Rates remained within the seven-month range. The Female rate decreased to 0.8% from 1.3%, the Male rate increased to 1.0% from 0.8%, and the Total rate fell to 0.9% from 1.1%.
