Extras: I was very happy that the company decided to use a double disc approach on both versions of the movie, allowing the extras to be kept in each version and maintain reasonably good technical values. On the second disc, the extras started with a 9:02 minute long Behind the Scenes feature edited by Will Bice, the cast and crew getting to add some comments (including Danny Raven as "the guy in glasses"). There was also an attempt to add some humor via editing, the results slightly mixed but the attempt certainly appreciated. It was cool to see a "hidden" extra BTS lasting 14:54 minutes as shot by the nice folks at XBiz (and sister site X-Fanz), this version focusing more on the ladies than the official one so it may be considered superior by many of you out there. Then came a bonus scene lasting 22:12 minutes between Ashlynn Brooke and Tommy Gunn from "Ashlynn Goes To College", the couple showing some chemistry as they worked each other over nicely. That was followed by 6:18 minutes worth of Bloopers, a few trailers, and seven photogalleries (six for the ladies and one for the cast as a whole). The Blu-ray version was done in MPEG-2 but the resolution was 1080p, the coding limitations keeping the upgrade from looking as good as it could have.

Audio/Video Quality: Scrubs: A XXX Parody was presented in a sharp looking 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen picture as shot by director Lee Roy Myers for New Sensations using the MPEG-2 codec with 480p resolution in the standard definition version, upgrading to a whole 720p for the Blu-ray release (at least it used the AVC codec). The show looked more like the original television show when I didn't look too closely, the lighting leaving something to be desired during the sex scenes (lacking a C-light, many portions were under lit). There were few compression artifacts that I noticed in the SD version and the video bitrate seemed to hover around the 23.4 Mbps mark for the Blu-ray version while the SD seemed limited to around 5.1 Mbps, the fluid camerawork coming across like the show too. While a decidedly flawed first attempt at the original show, I have to admit it looks like the director took great pains to improve this time, the effects by Eddie Powell and editing by Gabrielle Anex providing at least some of the boost. The company logo was always present in the lower right hand corner if that bothers you, I know it kills a show for many so you're not alone but in this day & age of piracy, it's to be expected. The SD audio was presented in a standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 192 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate, no separation between the channels, a limited dynamic range, and music from the archival vaults except for the one piece that just didn't work for me but the Blu-ray enhanced the audio to a full 1.5 Mbps bitrate, some minute differences actually heard when I cranked up the sound for my friends and I to listen to. In all then, the show was a cute send up to a popular television show, the technical aspects less important than the creative material used to inspire your self-love habits.

Body of Review: Lee Roy Myers has been hailed as New Sensations' version of Will Ryder in terms of his porn parodies of late, my own estimation of his skills showing him to be more likened to Hustler's Stuart Canterbury or Anton Slayer. For me at least, his track record is pretty short and lacking some of the production team needed to hit a home run every time holds all of the pretenders to the throne back a few notches though I admit he stepped up a bit when it came to Scrubs: A XXX Parody (SD & Blu-ray). As the market gets saturated on the Sitcum parody craze (this has happened before in porn mind you), the better directors and companies will continue to make them work and I suspect that Myers will be among the short list of those that make it, his first three titles all well worth checking out. This time, the popular television sitcom played out pretty well, the medical facility and outfits matching the level of acting by the genuinely appealing cast. Personally, I thought the technical matters could have been upgraded to a full 1080p and a better lighting guy employed but would probably rate it a notch higher for myself given my public support of the genre (I like the sitcums more than most people). In short, Scrubs: A XXX Parody (SD & Blu-ray) benefitted by the participation of the director, his crew, and performers like James Deen, Ashlynn Brooke, Jack Lawrence, and a few of the others but the rough edges were not smoothed out as well as they could have been, this parody spoofing the original more than serving as a tribute to it but I think most porn fans will enjoy watching it a time or three, perhaps even rubbing one out on their own while watching.
