Extras: The best related extra was the 11:11 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, Angelina Armani getting the lion's share of the footage this time. There was also a 36:08 minute long bonus scene starring Jenna Haze with James Deen from Performers of the Year 2009 lasting 36:08 minutes as described below in great detail. There were also some trailers, a photogallery, and a cumshot recap but that was all.

Audio/Video Quality: Starlets was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color as shot by director William H. Nutsack for Elegant Angel using the standard definition AVC codec with 1080p resolution. The lighting was good as expected and helped minimize the grain & video noise. The composition of the shots tended to favor the ladies, rarely chopping off their heads in a frame or missing out on significant portions of the action. The editing was better this time though a few of the edits by Bruce Carter were too noticeable but part of that might be due to what kind of footage was presented. I saw no compression artifacts although the bitrate varied substantially, often seeming to be in the 15.3 Mbps range. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the 256 Kbps bitrate (and 48 kHz sampling rate), the separation was nonexistent and the dynamic range limited but at least the vocals could be heard most of the time (as could some background noise). In all then, the technical aspects were decent here and in the future could again be improved by some extra attention but did not generally distract from the heat of the scenes where some was shown.

Body of Review: William H. Nutsack and his work at Elegant Angel has been one of my favorite directors in recent years; his devotion to brightly lit, tease-heavy, and high end hotty porn a marked exception to so many of his peers. His latest is called Starlets (Blu-ray), the company appearing as if they are searching for the "next big name" in porn given their lineup including Angelina Armani, London Keyes, Faye Reagan, Brooke Lee Adams, and Suzanne Kelly. The five scenes of sexual exploits were not the very best offering from them of late but provided some heated moments well beyond what a few of the ladies have provided elsewhere recently. The company website put it like this: "Adult entertainment studio, Elegant Angel Productions, is delighted to announce "Starlets," a glamorous collection of the hottest young talent in the industry. The movie stars the stunningly beautiful Angelina Armani, alongside London Keyes, Faye Reagan, Suzanne Kelly, and Brooke Lee Adams, and is directed by the award winning and critically acclaimed, William H." Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Angelina Armani, the young hotty featured on the front cover, was up first in a nifty little montage, her black bikini offering scant impediment to seeing her sexy lean figure as she teased at length to the slow tempo music. Her sultry look and bedroom eyes gave her substantial appeal, my own taste for curvier gals not weakening my appreciation for exactly what she sported in terms of physique. The montage ended to show her kissing Mr. Pete, the lucky man already growing in his pants. She unfastened his shirt and assisted him with a playful blowjob, actively slobbing his knob before he spread her legs to pound her pussy. She massaged her clitoris while he drilled her and she took an increasingly active stance in terms of riding him, some taste testing enhancing their connection as they continued their vaginal tryst. She wanted it harder and rougher so he complied with her wishes, Pete eventually jerking off to her face as she savored his flavor one last time. This was definitely one of her best performances to date, if not the best, the attractive beauty on the rise since leaving her contract earlier this year.

Scene Two: London Keyes, an exceptionally attractive brunette with some fine moves, was up next following the formula in the montage tease session while wearing her bikini. While offering a marked contrast to Angelina in some ways, she also appealed to me physically, her exotic look always elevating her scenes and the gal working with Mark Ashley this time. Once the montage was over, they were all over each other on the cream colored couch, Mark sucking her tits and London blowing him with a degree of energy I enjoyed watching. She tore off his pants to get greater access and worked his shaft with her hand as her mouth inhaled his turgid pecker, London lost in the moment even before he reciprocated by sucking her sweet ass. Scene Five: Suzanne Kelly, a frisky little brunette with a nice smile, was up last wearing a tiny neon pink bikini as she strut her stuff in a dance montage that showed she was not unfamiliar with moving to a beat. She was far too skinny for me physically but that aside, her potential to become an up and comer was clear, the gal soon working with Mick Blue on the couch. He was all over her with his hands and they kissed a few times, her eye contact with him helping elevate the scene a little bit but not to the point of saving the scene from the weaknesses. He went down on her and she blew him, neither showing any chemistry here but she tried to save it by riding him actively. Her dirty talk helped but ultimately, it was a very uneven scene in terms of performance, Suzanne's generic porn moans getting old after a short time hearing them. The scene ended as expected with Mick rubbing out a wad of spew to her face, capping a set of scenes not especially solid in my opinion.

Bonus Scene: Performers of the Year 2009: Jenna Haze, one of the most popular ladies in porn at this writing, was up next and while she was not on the cover, she was never far from my mind as she stuck to the formula set forth by her peers. She wore colorful undies and did a light tease, not truly dancing but shaking nicely to show off her lovely form. That continued until the tease ended and she was hooked up with young James Deen, the guy lightening up on his rough act in order to appeal to a wider audience. She had changed into a red dress for the scene itself, the pair kissing before he fingered her and she actively blew him, the pair seeming to have some chemistry together akin to the last couple. This performance might not have won her any awards (or a spot on the front cover) but it wasn't bad at all, James hammering his pecker into Jenna vaginally until it was time to upgrade to anal where she seemed to come alive. Jenna was vocal about what worked with him and he responded to her cries of pleasure, the ATM employing her hand in spiral motion to increase the friction nicely. His load of population pudding was minimal but she took it to the face, securing the expected result for her fans.

Summary: Starlets (Blu-ray) by director William H. Nutsack for Elegant Angel started off very nicely with Angelina Armani and London Keyes providing very appealing trysts but quickly fell apart due to mediocre efforts on the part of the pairings so I rated it as a Rent It. If seeing a couple of good scenes is enough for you or you're a fan of Angelina and/or London, by all means elevate your personal rating a notch or two and pick up a copy, just don't kid yourself that the slavering fanboy accolades were particularly accurate in scope this time. In short, Starlets did indeed showcase two fine young up and comers that could well become stars in the future, their work alone making this one to check out but the appeal of the high definition blu-ray version was the added clarity and resolution you would expect of the show, offset only by the amount of mediocre performances by a few of the ladies.  Still, it was well worth looking for if you are properly equipped since the ladies looked better than ever and came across as able to handle the rigors of high definition better than most contract performers have of late.
