Note: This review is for the upgraded Blu-Ray version of the SD title I reviewed a few years back. If you want a hint of the upgraded quality it presents, by all means go and check out the TRAILER, though that is still a weak version compared to the disc itself. In all, the upgrade was a modest one but look for the little details to see why so many people are into the high definition craze that was largely promoted by Digital Playground when few other companies were willing to step up to the plate.

Audio/Video Quality: My First Porn Blu-Ray was presented in a 1.78:1 widescreen color in 1080p resolution using the AVC codec for this upgraded blu-ray version by the talented Robby D. The video bitrate hovered around the 26 Mbps mark much of the time, showing less compression than many other such releases by the company, and added some stunning details to the ladies that made it seem more realistic. The lighting and camera style were more indicative of the excellent Teen America series than the less appealing Jack's Playground series although no one will accuse Robby of having too much light. There were shadows and some grain but they weren't a major factor this time since the sex was almost always spot on with the heat, chemistry, and passion. There were some moments when the focus was lost for a second and other minor visual tricks that I'd call "flaws" while Robby would suggest they were on purpose but taken as a whole, the movie was pleasing to the eye and had far greater replay value than the J.P. series. In terms of the DVD mastering, I saw no compression artifacts, moiré, or other compression based issues and the editing by Joey Pulgadas assisted in making it a worthwhile effort. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround using the usual 48 kHz sampling rate and an audio bitrate of 448 Kbps although the vocals were likely shot in monaural with the popular coding added in during the post production work. Still, outside of some minor periods of hollowness, I could hear what was said (along with all the usual background noise). The rear channels did not contribute to the aural experience and I was hoping for a bigger upgrade in the sonic portions of the movie but they were better, albeit only slightly, from the original SD version. To sum up the technical values, they might not have been Robby's best work to date but they were generally very well done.

Body of Review: Robby D. is currently the lead director and cameraman for the popular Digital Playground company. As such, he gets the lion's share of work, and credit for the work, and I think this makes a lot of sense. His years of working of working assembly line porn at a competing company trained him well to make do with what he had on hand and try his best to get a good batch of material for the editors to clean up. Some of the time, he succeeds on many, if not most, levels while other times he tries and falls short but his growth as a director is easily seen by comparing his earlier work against what he makes now. His latest venture is another spin off series from the Jack's Playground series he started years ago, called My First Porn Blu-Ray where he takes a shot as a mythical director just starting to direct adult movies. BY stepping into such a role, he can hopefully poke fun at the industry conventions as he "learns" to do what he already knows so well. Like most of his body of work, the success of this line will largely depend on whether he can offer up performers that charge head first into great scenes and the amount of fuck for the buck he offers. Looking at his other two series, you'll readily see the two extremes of this concept but as long as he shoots for the Teen America end of the scale, I'll be happy. The show though seems to have Robby breaking into porn with the assistance of a guy old enough to be Yoda (with as much hair in his ears too) in some funny skits where this mentor gives Robby advice from his wheelchair. Here's a look at the scenes though to give you an idea of why I liked it so much, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Austin Kincaid, the brunette on the right side of the front DVD cover going topless, was up first on a porn set preparing for her scene with Chris Charming on the set of a "Livid" movie (it looked better than most scenes from Robby's old home company though). Chris began with his tongue up her ass on the bed and Robby walked in on them to begin shooting their bout of "practice sex". Chris continued going down on her and she eventually returned the favor with a short blowjob (followed by some nice titty fucking). They screwed vaginally and he blew his load after jerking off because she was so tight. Being a trooper, he went for round two and her doggy work was exceptionally hot for me (a gal that actively participates in the pumping is always preferred over those that lie back and let the guy do all the work). Once he rubbed out another load, this time to her lovely face, it was done but I thought they worked well together (whether it chemistry or merely acting ability, I'll leave it up to you to decide but it looked good).

Scene Two: Terri Summers, a brunette with a slightly better hairstyle here than she had in Jack's Playground 28 (filmed about the same time too), was up next with her partner from that movie, studly Marco Duato in an office setting. I admit that this scene automatically looked better than the other one although Robby lost focus several times during the action. Marco went down on her from behind, going so far as to lick her red stripper shoes, before she reciprocated with a bit of knob slobbing action to his shaft. She was playful and attentive; two fine qualities for a gal giving head, and she used minimal hand to gland action before they went to banging in a standing doggy with PTM (pussy to mouth). She wasn't as active here as I prefer but she did get better as she warmed up with him in the chair, bouncing as though reliving her memories of her youthful hobby horse rides. I admit that I'd have been a two pump chump with her but it did end with a fair load to her mouth. While not a great scene, I certainly thought it was a good scene.

Scene Three: Lena Bracci, a foxy looking blonde with size 7 feet as seen on the left hand side of the front DVD cover, was up next in a scene with Joe Monti in front of the "Bitch Parking Zone" sign on another generic set. At first glance, I thought she was a younger, fresher version of Gina Lynn with a lot of curve in her ass to appreciate. They went at one another with some measure of passion during the foreplay but it was her fellatio skills that worked best for me. He didn't snack on her back crack very long though and soon enough, the two were pounding uglies with vaginal up first and anal coming in pretty quick (perhaps as part of the advertised "more anal"). Okay, her moans were about as real and overdone as a generic sex worker but I guess I was more disappointed with her passiveness in the scene. She did taste testing from each hole but if you watch the scene, it was the most generic of the batch (although that doesn't say a lot since the "batch" of other scenes were generally very eye pleasing and fun to watch). He popped a nut to her face after some more oral and the scene ended with his goo dropping down on her chest.

Scene Four: Teagan Presley, the hotty featured on the middle of the front DVD cover and my primary reason for getting this DVD, was up next in her cute outfit as seen on the cover. Muscular Tommy Gunn was playing at being a professional so he wanted to be paid this time but Robby's comments about getting new equipment, including LIGHTS, made me smile since lighting is often his weakest area of direction (planned or not, less lighting equals more grain). Robby copped a feel as Teagan inhaled Tommy's shaft like the professional she is although I'd rather he pull out the frame a bit so he wouldn't cut off parts of her head. Still, a Teagan scene practically directs itself as the hotty combines a playful sense of sexuality with her very sweet body. Tommy spent some time sucking her curvy little ass (who wouldn't?) and the two were banging moments afterwards. I thought she was better here than any of her vaunted Evil Angel scenes from before her contract and she looked like she got off at least once. It was an energetic, active ride and didn't use a condom like her scene in J.P #28, so fans will like it even better than the crowded bathroom scene there. In all, it was a great scene due to the performers and ended with him rubbing out a load onto her ass. Yum!

Scene Five: Lanny Barby, one of my favorite performers these days, was up last in a scene with Scott Nails in a bed. She had a crappy little picture on the upper left hand side of the front DVD cover but this brunette hotty is great on the eyes and talented in the sack so I was quite pleased to find her here. Her outfit was a sexy black number with fishnet stockings but aside from enhancing her looks, I was hoping to see more of it (on the floor!). She took charge of the sex but licking his chest before blowing him in a teasing fashion. She took a break in order to sit on his face (what an incredible ass!) before resuming her oral duties. The gal was on fire as pumped his shaft into her mouth and salivated on it, leading to some fine vaginal riding accentuated by her curvy, tan body against his frog belly white, no muscles look. She did taste testing but it was the way she coaxed him on and rode him that worked the best for me. At some point though, she started pulling back to let him do most of the work and this detracted a bit from the heat of the scene. The anal was far from her best work too but she was so darned fine that I didn't care as much as one of the generic looking gals Robby uses in the J.P. series so often. It ended when he popped off on her ass in the second best scene of the movie thanks to the casting of Lanny.

Summary: My First Porn Blu-Ray was a good movie with a great cast and solid replay values so I'm rating it as Recommended, this high definition version definitely an upgrade, though only a modest one at that. Sure, I'd have appreciated extras better than a bunch of trailers and photogallery related stuff but the amount of fuck for the buck was above average for Robby (especially if you factor in his couples oriented work for Celeste) and the humor bits were just enough to tie in the scenes as part of a movie. The front DVD cover looked pretty interesting although the relative exclusion of Lanny Barby was a mistake in my opinion and the color scheme didn't quite work. Still, in all the areas that mattered, My First Porn Blu-Ray readily excelled and future volumes already look like winners based on the advertised cast (at least in volume 2). This is the kind of work I like to see the tag team trio of Robby D., Nick P. and Joey Pulgadas work on since it gives the fan more for their money (and just because I get free porn doesn't mean I stop looking out for the consumer). Good job!
