Final Thoughts: As a reviewer of adult films I'm occasionally asked “what's it like to be in the industry?” And I always have to correct them that I'm not in the industry. I'm just a fan. An outsider looking in. I'm like Wilson to porn's Tim Taylor family. That being said, I love my neighbors, because they love each other. The porn family is a very close knit community, not taking too well to outsiders bad mouthing them. That's why I feel this film is a very personal one for Brad Armstrong. While on the outside it's a very well told and VERY well acted story of a sweet girl who's only trying to make it in this work using her natural talents, and not being ashamed of it. But if you dig a little deeper it's a story of family and friendship. Like when wonderful Honey Gold warns Lucas Frost that she'll cut him if he fucks with her family again.  Or when you see Small Hands wailing on him, it represents the community as a whole defending one of their own. And while I personally don't know the true story of Kristen Scott telling her family what she does, I can't help but feel it was the same reaction she has here as her dad tells her they need to talk. Hopefully he'll tell her that what's important is (A) it's paying her way through school and a better life, (B) it's putting a roof over her head, and [C] it's putting food in their granddaughter's mouth. So while I don't consider myself as one, it always makes me feel good to see the industry come together for each other. OK, before we get too maudlin, I'll say in conclusion that this is a great movie, with a fantastic ensemble cast lead by the already award winning Kristen Scott whom I've been impressed with since Kristen Scott's Skip Day. And whether it's visually stunning epics like his upcoming Fallen 2 or Carny, to gritty urban dramas like Ethni-City, to low-key indie style stories like this, Brad Armstrong always impresses me with his versatile ways to tell his stories. This is a really good movie and I Highly Recommend it.
