Audio/Video Quality: Teen America: Mission 3Blu-Ray was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color as originally shot by director Robby D. for Digital Playground the better part of three years ago. This being the second HD DVD re-issue by the company to make it to my hands (the rumors are that there were problems with the re-mastered version of Pirates so I can't blame them for limiting distribution to reviewers), I was hoping it would be more of an upgrade than Island Fever 3 HD DVD proved to be; that title being the first the company offered and an improvement, but not as much as many had hoped for. This title was also mastered in 720p VC-1, and while I did not review the original release, I know the series has long been one of the most straightforward titles in the company catalog so I wondered if it really could look much better. Thankfully, it was very crisp and clean, while not as glorious as some of the mainstream titles I've been checking out of late, another step forward in the evolution of porn in the high definition format. The flesh tones were accurate, the details enhanced by the process, and considering the age of the original material (which was shot in 2004), I am happy to report that it might work better as a showcase disc for your BR set up than the pretty porn offered in Island Fever 3 HD DVD by virtue of the regular motion sex, the lengthy scenes, and the no bullshit special effects approach used to convey the sexual situations. Personally, I can't wait until projects shot recently, and mastered in 1080p, start coming out as they should raise the bar even faster and higher. Until then, the composition of the project was solid and while not as advanced as some of Robby's later works in the series (check them out here: Teen America Series), I can see why the company would experiment with some of the decent but less high end projects at this point in the HD DVD process. The audio was presented in a 5.1, newly encoded Dolby Digital + for the higher quality one would expect from the improved format, with limited results in some cases (if you listen closely, you may hear the minor background noises slightly better but the series has never relied on separation between the tracks or a superior dynamic range). Still, with a proper home theatre designed to work with the enhanced sound and using the HDMI cables, this will likely sound as good as it can thanks to the format used.

Body of Review: Robby D. was not always one of my top directors, at least not until he worked at Digital Playground for awhile. Prior to that, he was charged with churning out product on an assembly line basis and while some of it provided insights into his desire to do something different (and better), his budgets and schedule were as limited as his hands were tied. After proving himself at DP, he went on to create numerous spin offs from his Jack's Playground series, the most consistently reliable being the award winning Teen America Series. The latest offering in the series is the remastered Teen America: Mission 3 Blu-Ray; the company's third true HD DVD title. The series shows Robby as "Jack" a loser from a wealthy family that gets cut off by dad so he starts working for a beauty contest to scam women out of their clothing. This time, there was a definite emphasis on college gals getting into the fray, the title serving as a good selection to offer up as the new format process is refined. If you like the series, this would be a good one to appreciate for Blu-Ray equipped folks overall, at least until the big guns start coming out in coming months. Here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: The Plumber: Lauren Phoenix, the blonde anal queen featured on the center of the DVD cover, was up first playing a 19 year old plumber with a love of pipes. Granted, she didn't look that young to me but even though this was shot three years ago, she'd be a prime candidate for reversing the stereotypical ass crack jokes many feel the need to toss as her ass crack was one I'd like to see really close & personal. Okay, after some limited tease of her in a comfortable set of clothing, she started working the pipe of Mark Ashley with her oral acumen, slobbing his knob in such a way that were this a blowjob-only scene, we'd be content. While a splendid oralist, her specialty for anal was soon the focal point of the scene; starting with a toy to stretch her out in order to accommodate his wide cock but soon taking the cock itself in an aggressive manner. The spanking to redden her ass cheeks was sweet too but her vocalizations sure didn't hurt and her vaginal work wasn't bad either. The load of population pudding went to her face as expected, the Canadian showing the kind of skills the series relies on to elevate the heat, her chemistry with Mark a given by the end of the scene.

Scene Two: The Pledge: Sativa Rose, a sexy Latina that drives me crazy at times, was up next as a sorority pledge in need of a special object to gain admittance during hell week. The object was a large paddle and her sexual desires awakened at the sight of the extensive collection of BDSM gear caused her to be caught off guard by an aroused Christian when she lingered too long (getting too wet for words in the process). The kink factor was high here as he employed some of the toys on her sexy body, elevating the heat quotient more than a little bit and this scene showed him at his best working with the desirable little hotty. Compared to Lauren, Sativa was a wide eyed innocent on the sexual front at this point in her career but that translated nicely to the barely legal theme of the series, not just the scene. I think had she done anal here and not just ATM with the toys, she might have given the queen a run for her money though, my personal view being that she had the freshness factor and youth angle in spades by comparison. It ended when Christian launched a decent load to her face, the cutie swallowing it easily to finish things up.

Scene Three: The Cheerleader: Rachel Rotten, one of the original "alt-porn" type gals before the term became popular, was up next as she played her cheerleader role to the hilt. While I would not have thought of her that way initially, she made the role a spoof of sorts, resulting in her working with then-partner Rob Rotten. Rob has since gone on to become a curiously talented director and is still underestimated by idiots that consider him to be dumb simply because of his appearance (he is considered one of the smartest guys in porn by a lot of people; consider yourself lucky if you get to engage in a conversation with him). I'll be the first to admit that I've never been a fan of ink, piercings, and weird hairstyles but the chemistry between the couple was thick enough that you could cut it with a knife in the scene, the couple moving easily from oral to vaginal screwing with a certain amount of heat to ice the cake. The scene ended with him busting a nut into her mouth, reminding me why VCA had given her a contract before she left porn to go back to school.

Scene Four: The Sorority Girl: Harmony, the hot little number on the left hand side of the cover, was up next as she pretended to be a nebbish librarian type. Initially, that meant looking the exact opposite of the type of gal that wins beauty contests but she made it work for her and fans of gals with glasses will appreciate her appeal in that sense too. The tease added to the fun and she started to smolder as she eyed Christian, the guy showing he liked women every bit as much as the men he was familiar with. The hummer was pretty solid, not her very best but still active enough that I wouldn't split hairs about it, the gal carefully working his knob as if to get him off early. The screwing showed her to be an active participant capable of handling his modest member with flair, bouncing as though getting off in the process or at least acting like she was. Several positions later, he popped a wad on a sex paddle, the gal licking at it somewhat tentatively but getting into it as the scene closed up, providing another reason to appreciate this gal beyond her mere good looks.

Scene Five: The R.N.: Megan Martinez, the sexy little brunette on the right hand side of the front cover, was up last as a nurse with a stripper mentality as she teased the camera at length. This led to her putting the squeeze on studly Tommy Gunn, who took charge of the gal with some BDSM gear that allowed the diminutive gal to be even less on an equal footing with the muscular meat puppet. She didn't seem to mind as he placed her in the restrictive gear, using her feminine wiles to convince him that she'd be a better fuck without the trapping placed on her after he led her about the house on a dog chain. There seemed to be less vaginal work after some solid oral by both of them here, the load flying out of him uncontrollably at the very end. I thought she did a decent job but it was not her best work from back then, even if it was quite strokable.

Summary: Teen America: Mission 3 Blu-Ray by director Robby D. for Digital Playground was a decent title for the growing collection of high definition releases by the company and worth a rating of Recommended. The ladies all offered something different from one another, the technical aspects were well done, and the HD DVD remastering made the action look and sound clearer than ever. This might not be a reference quality title at this writing but Teen America: Mission 3 Blu-Ray will certainly add another dimension to the equation of what the format is capable of providing porn fans everywhere. Personally, I have a lengthy list of titles I'd like the company to start working on but only when they get the mastering tools prepared for full 1080p and are willing to add in some extras to increase the fuck for your buck quotient to compensate for the increased prices these discs are fetching.
