In this recent Joy Bear production, directed by ‘Ed’, A narrator named Effie B. speaks into the microphone about what people want when they have sex. The premise is that this is a podcast that brings you real stories about real sex, in hopes that it will turn you on. This sets into motion the five scenes that make up the bulk of the feature's running time.

The performers are all natural, which is a nice touch, and the emphasis here is on sex that could actually happen in the real world. As such, there’s a definite slant towards keeping things grounded, playing with the ideas of fantasy and what not, but never going so far in that direction that it ever seems dumb or unrealistic. The podcast narration bit doesn’t add much depth to a production that doesn’t have much depth to begin with, but it does at least bridge the gap between the five scenes that make up the feature effectively enough. While this leaves nothing to the imagination, it doesn’t linger on the penetration shots the way that most typical modern porno movies do, and the light plot and emphasis on, dare I say it, tenderness, makes it a decent choice for couples looking for a bit of adult entertainment.

Scene 1 –Touchy Feely - Julia Roca, Bel Gris: In their fancy house way up in the Hollywood hills, Nora gets turned on when she hears her neighbors having sex. Scene 2 – Oral Fixation - Amber Nevada, Juan Lucho: In this second story a listener named Nelson tells Effie how he loves the taste of Jackie's body but she's uncomfortable with her own body. It’s also fairly unique given that cunnilingus isn’t always the center of attention in a lot of recent smut.

Scene 3 – Boyfriend’s Clothes - Kali Sudhra, Katana: The third vignette lets us in on what happens when a woman lusts after her friend Shen (Katana) when her boyfriend is gone. Apparently she missed the smell of him. This gets Katana pretty turned on, enough so that she masturbates with his dirty shirt. When she goes to visit her friend, Kali Sudhra, they quickly get naked and start fooling around, stripping each other and then trying on the missing boyfriend's clothes. This apparently increases their respective libidos and soon enough they're kissing and rubbing one another through the boyfriend's clothes. Of course, those clothes come off sooner rather than later and Kali goes down on Katana, who is completely (and recently!) shaved down there, fingering her as well. Both of these women are genuinely, and naturally, beautiful, so watching them go at it is a bit of a treat and they do it with passion and believable sensitivity.

Scene 4 – Restricted Behavior - Liz Rainbow, Marcus Quillan: Up next, we witness how a fetish chooses you, not the other way around. Gavin wakes up to find girlfriend Mary has stolen all the covers. The great chemistry between these two attractive performers makes this the stand out.

Scene 5 – Close To The Edge - Katana, Romeo: Last but not least, we learn about the rewards of delayed satisfaction. This shows us what happens when a couple get into edging, fucking until they get really close, and then stopping so that they can start all over again. This seems to take them most of the day as they change clothes and locations a bit, waiting until they're alone to really go at it and enjoying the sex all the more for it. We see they indulge in foreplay in a few different locations and then, when they time is right for both of them, really letting go and getting off. He goes down on her and she responds in kind, after which they indulge in some manual stimulation before he slips a condom on, spreads her legs and gets on in there. Not the best of the scenes on the disc but still worth checking out.

Production values are nice. Joy Bear always does a good job with the visuals in their films, shooting their productions with care and paying attention to lighting, composition and set decoration. The score isn’t particularly unique, in fact it’s a bit generic, but it sounds decent enough and complements the action.

Everyday Turn-ons is a shot on digital video production which looks absolutely pristine in that there’s no damage or dirty, presented here in a very strong and stable 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, but which suffers from frequent, noticeable compression artifacts. Colors look a bit softer and less defined than they should, which is a shame as this is nicely shot. The transfer is certainly watchable enough but in this day and age of HD porn (which, right or wrong, is what this disc is competing against!), you definitely get left feeling like the picture quality could and should have been stronger than it is.

The Audio:

The English language Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track sounds fine. There are no alternate language or subtitle options offered on the disc No issues here, the track is nicely balanced and the narration is clean and clear. The score sounds good and there are no issues with any hiss or distortion.

The Extras:

The main extra on the disc is a making-of featurette that runs a whole six-minutes in length (and which will play automatically once the feature finishes). It shows us some quick interviews with the cast members who talk about their scenes and talks about the emphasis of realism used in the picture. We also get a quick look at the sets being decorated, some photo shoots that were done on set and a bit more. This isn’t super deep but it does give us a feel for the Joy Bear style that was used for the picture.

Aside from that, we get a still gallery, menus and scene selection.

Final Thoughts:

Everyday Turn-ons is a pretty solid feature, each of the five scenes are nicely put together and well-performed. This might not reinvent the wheel but there’s some legitimate creativity on display and the cast are all attractive and look great doing what they do. The transfer isn’t reference quality but it’s watchable enough, and the extras are slim, but the feature itself is solid enough and a pretty easy recommendation for couples looking for some modern smut to spice things up a bit.
