Scene 1:

However brief, there’s real storytelling that encourages viewer buy-in and makes the sex scene relevant and believable.

Kayden Kross’ filmmaking is beautiful. She takes us through multiple sets with cinematic framing and has taken great care in setting the tone and time of day with expert lighting. All the little details are in place, you’ll see no clutter or awkward reflections in the background. Something so simple, yet lost on many a porno.

This marks Tori Black’s third Vixen scene since returning to the business and her pornographic prowess is at an all-time high. She and Sins run through a host of sex acts, highlighted by deep throats and a marvelous against-the-wall fuck. Scene 2:

Camerawork remains fluid and intimate. You can feel a sense of bliss and then sudden excitement in the static-then-jerky motions of the lens. It follows the gonzo formula without sacrificing framing and angling.

The whole thing is beautifully shot, delivering that sort of high-budget glam that we’ve come to expect from Vixen’s productions. Kross’ attention to detail is impeccable. You won’t see clutter, unmade beds, or any of the other triggers that give porn connoisseurs nightmares. And naturally, the sex is on fire.

Special features are lacking, which is becoming more of a general critique of the industry than any specific studio. You’ll find the usual photo gallery, cumshot compilation and an advert for Vixen’s website.

Icons No. 1 is loads of fun. Although it builds story and relationships while committing to the art-porn concept, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Great porn is ultimately about great sex, and Icons No. 1 has that in droves! With each viewing I found myself experiencing it differently: on the edge of my seat, or cheering, or lusting, even tearing up at Abella Danger’s gleeful (and sexual) catharsis.
