Extras: The opening spam was a pain but the 36:10 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Ralph Long was a lot of fun, some of the special effects, social dynamics, and production matters handled quite well. There was then a 40:17 minute long bonus scene from Curvaceous 2(described below), a second scene from the movie lasting 43:21 minutes (also described below), a photogallery, some parody trailers, a special offer, and the usual band of company extras.

Audio/Video Quality: Sister Wives XXX was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. The technical aspects were handled very competently, looking like someone watched the actual show and took a few notes before diving headfirst into production (which is becoming increasingly rare these days by weaker companies). The video bitrate hovered around 4.2 Mbps (when spot checked), the lighting, editing by Fletcher Martin and Alex Fuentes, and other technical aspects of the parody in tune with the cable show. It was shot on HDV 1080i60, edited on Final Cut Pro, and the exceptional audio mixed on Pro Tools for those that care. There was a company watermark in the lower right hand corner though, a distinctive reminder of the company at all times. The audio was presented in a basic 2.0 Dolby Digital with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 256 Kbps aural bitrate, the vocals clearly heard regardless of the situation. The theme song was a nice touch as was the score and ambient sounds well mixed into the final product with the vocals, the added attention to the aural qualities a definite upgrade over most parodies released these days.

Body of Review: B. Skow is the best gonzo shooter of porn ever working for Vivid Entertainment, his feature releases proving he is not another one trick pony in the porn world. Given the company’s devotion to celebrity sex tapes and newfound love of parodies, it came as no surprise that he thought outside of the box by making Sister Wives XXX A Porn Parody. The original show is about a Mormon family consisting of one husband and three wives, the man courting a fourth wife as part of the series (in which the guy has a dozen or so kids to contend with). I’ll be the first to admit that parodying obscure cable reality shows is akin to calling grade Z actresses’ sexual exploits as worthy of celebrity sex tapes but frankly, I have to give credit for Skow tackling a show few others would care to take on, leaving the low hanging fruit for his peers at other companies. My limited exposure to the TLC show was due to my GF watching an episode upon which time I remarked, any guy stupid enough to marry more than one woman at a time deserves to remain married as part of his sentence (apparently, you can’t legally marry more than one person at a time, some goofy law on the books few would care to violate in the first place). The mighty Evan Stone plays the lead role a bit too convincingly, the four lead women also very convincing in their roles which brings up a second point: the ladies were not cookie cutter porn chicks. Granted, India Summer is a fine catch as a hotty MILF and Aliysa Moore is as cute as a button, but fluffy Lisa Sparxxx and Samantha “38G” Anderson are not typical performers outside of niche products so it added to the fun (after all, in most mass produced parodies, the changes made revolve heavily around cost and glamorizing the looks of the ladies to sell more units).

Being a polygamist may not be the simple life, but the affable if somewhat dopey Kody always manages.
