The Movie:

Following up on their Re-Animator spoof (aptly titled Re-Penetrator and their The Exorcist spook entitled The XXXorcist, the twisted minds are Burning Angel give you… Fuckenstein! The plot will be familiar to any fan of classic horror films – or maybe not. James Deen plays Dr. Frankenstein, a mad scientist whose work involves all manner of bizarre and macabre experiments. When he and his assistant, Igor, finish up in the lab one night he decides to spend some quality time with his lady friend, Joanna Angel.

They head from the old school lab to a very modern looking bedroom where they start making out, though her old school undergarments are a nice touch. James eats her out and fingers her before getting her on all fours and fucking her from behind. he gets on his back and she rides him cowgirl style and once he slips a finger up her ass, she goes nuts and has the greatest orgasm of her life. They talk about it a bit afterwards and he comes up with an idea!

From there we cut back to the lab where Joanna figures, hey, I’ve got the place to myself, why not masturbate? Let’s not spoil the comedic twist ending but it let it suffice to say that the monster demands a mate and that it sets up a sequel, the obvious title for it has to be Bride Of Fuckenstein. This is a fun one, clocking in at an hour in length and containing only two real sex scenes it won’t appeal to the gonzo crowd but if you enjoyed earlier Burning Angel XXX horror parody titles, you’ll dig this one too. It doesn’t have to goo or the gore that the first two did (and what the Hell ever happened to Evil Head?) but instead goes for low budget gothic style. The lab looks pretty cool, even if it’s probably just a loft somewhere in Brooklyn but the bedroom, well, there’s no hiding the fact that it’s not a creepy castle bedroom. A for effort though. Joanna and James always have great chemistry together and their work here is more of them. They go at it with spirit and are obviously having a good time. The three way is steamy if DP scenes are your thing, with all three giving 100% without breaking character.

All in all, this one is a lot of silly, sexy hardcore fun. There’s no need to take it seriously, you’re not supposed to – but if you’re a fan of Ms. Angel’s work, you’re very likely going to enjoy this on every level that you should. The DVD

Video:

The 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen transfer does a pretty good job of bringing the movie to your home theater. You can watch the feature in black and white or color (the black and white version is a little more fun and a little more interesting but there’s nothing wrong with having a choice!) and both transfers show a little shimmer and a little compression but otherwise look very good.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans. The soundtrack is mixed in properly at a respectable level so as not to overshadow the speaking parts when they do occur. Bass response is nice and lively and overall, for a porno movie, this is a better than average effort.

Extras:

Burning Angel has given Fuckenstein a few decent extras. Outside of the two versions of the movie we also get a Behind The Scenes featurette that shows some of the cast and crew working on the set design and some of the makeup effects. Like a lot of the BA featurettes, you get the impression that these guys all really like working together and are having a lot of fun here. It’s a little short at ten minutes in length, but then, the feature isn’t all that long in the first place. Aside from that, we get trailers for four other Burning Angel DVD releases, a still gallery, a weblink, animated menus and scene selection.

Final Thoughts:

Fuckenstein is fun. The sex is well performed and plenty hot and Joanna looks great here. The concept works, the makeup effects are surprisingly good and despite the fact that the feature is a bit on the short side and caters to a niche market, there’s a lot to like about this DVD. Recommended.
