Final Thoughts: A great industry legend once told me that the mark of any great adult film is if you were to take the sex scenes out you would still want watch it. That is Axel Braun in a nutshell. The screenplay for this film, for instance, is along the same calibre if not better than it's mainstream counterpart. The cinematography is beautiful, very dark and moody during the more intense scenes, while brightening up for the lighter ones. And Romi Rain is just so incredible, delivering her dialog so naturally (I literally got goosebumps during her rallying cry near the end), while being an absolute sexual dynamo during her sex scenes. The other players were great too. Giavanni Francesco and Ryan Driller reprising their very dark representations of these troubled superheroes that they gave us so well in Batman V. Superman. And Xander Corvus is terrific as the slightly smart-allecky Green Lantern. From the mind blowing SFX to Monica Blaise's beautiful costumes, this is just an exemplary piece of film making. It's awards are all well deserved and I have to give it the Xcritic Pick. Word of advice, if you're going to get it, definitely buy the beautiful two-disc collector's edition dvd. It comes with collector's cards and a gorgeous foldout poster that will appease an comic book and porn fan alike.
