Note: The following review is for the HD version of a title released day and date with the standard definition version. The movie appeared to be unchanged with the extras slightly truncated, the re-mastered version looking and sounding superior in every way. This has not always been the case with older titles making the transition to the new high definition formats but the 1080p HD-DVD version in hand was not one of those times. The quick version is that this one is well worth the upgrade thanks in large part to the replay value and strokability of the original material so you really can't go wrong this time. Extra's: I really liked the 7:55 minute long Behind the Scenes feature since it spent so much time capturing additional sex scene footage; Graham Crack Herr following her like a loyal puppy dog (good man!) and showing plenty of tease. Audio/Video Quality: The Sunny ExperimentHD-DVD was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment using the VC-1 codec mainstream companies employ and a true 1080p resolution. The disc was mastered by Dimension DVD, a major player in the field and a company certainly on the rise in terms of porn titles coming out on the new format. For those unfamiliar with Skow's background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD (in this version; my SD review was help up until this morning) as shot in HDV1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than many similar efforts by Skow's peers at the company). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were accurate this time and the DVD mastering was well done (the bitrate hovering around the upper teens to lower 20's Mbps area), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital+ English offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. There was definitely some separation on the music tracks this time, a couple of blatant examples standing out as really adding some value to the production.

Body of Review: B. Skow is the most technically adept director these days at Vivid Entertainment, shooting a variety of titles that score big with the fans. As his budgets grow, his ability to offer even more diverse sensual pleasures grows with them; the ending results almost always something the sales staff must be happy with. Well, I'm used to him showcasing contract gals far better than his peers do so I was anxious to see what he'd do when given the chance to work with lovely Sunny Leone in a movie called The Sunny Experiment HD-DVD. The idea was to provide Sunny a chance to discuss fantasies that made her hot, allowing her and others to live them out in a glamorized manner. These vignettes did not include her doing men (that title will be out soon enough) but all of them were really well done with plenty of imagination, heat, and wild scenarios that were just vivid enough to provide serious replay value and strokability. In my opinion, you can never have too much oil in a porn scene and with as fit a body as Sunny's, you can never have enough tease, Celeste working her way slowly up from the feet and calves to the rest of that perfect body. My biggest criticism of Vivid's movies years ago was their almost complete lack of tease to establish the mood of a scene so my praise for Skow's attention to this detail cannot be made strongly enough here, the glistening body responding in kind until Celeste eventually joined in for some fun herself. The oral they did on each other was sublime and this was another sweet use of the split screen effect; not as a gimmick but to spotlight the action taking place from both angles in a way that did not weaken the moment. They did use some toys here and the almost surreal tint gave it a glow much like I felt emanated from Sunny in most of her scenes this time, but I was very happy with how it all played out. Whoa!

Scene Five: Men in Uniform: Nadia Styles, a seriously cute babe with roast beef labia, was up last as she played a prisoner in need of a cigarette from guards Jerry and Barry Scott. While Barry looked more like he'd be the one wearing the striped outfit thanks to his plethora of tattoos, the men manhandled her in a manner she found appealing, the juices running down her leg even before her panties were removed for her body cavity search they did with their tongues. The choppy editing was fitting here, showing more care to be appropriately done than usual in support of the theme; the men using her at will before she dropped down to reciprocate with some blowjob action. The technical matters were well done, the extras nicely fitting (using bonus scenes relating to the women of the cast, even if not shot specifically for this release is a compromise I can live with), and the strokability elevating the replay value and levels of fuck for the buck made this one I can give a rating of Highly Recommended to. In short, The Sunny Experiment HD was a success thanks to both Sunny and director B. Skow, making me hope he will be allowed to apply his approach to the rest of the contract stable sometime soon. Believe what you will but this was the perfect example of a Vivid team up that people love to see and I thought this was one of the best HD titles coming out in 2007, helping to set the standard for future titles.
