Overview: This Ain’t Girls XXX is the parody version of HBO’s Girls, a show about twenty-something women in New York expressing themselves sexually but more importantly, is a modern feminist show. Its creator recently caused a stir saying that Hustler not only exploits women but the feminist aspect is totally lost on director Stuart Canterbury, and wrongly assumes its primary male audience will only view her show as simply a softcore porn version of the parody. As a fan of Girls and porn, I disagree. This Ain’t Girls XXX is simply parodying a popular show without taking itself seriously, which at times Girls does. And as someone who watches porn both personally and professional, This Ain’t Girls XXX, while hardly feminist porn, as a parody is simply meant to be a much more sexually explicit version of Girls but at the same time taking some liberty with the theme of the show, it’s characters, fit it for its target audience but in no way does it take personal shots at the show’s creator or the show itself. It’s meant to be taken in good fun, an honor really that Canterbury would put a lot of thought into making This Ain’t Girls XXX, keeping some of the spirit of the show alive and well, carefully choosing the right performers to play the show’s central characters, a script that if tweaked could be a cannon for the actual show, and for finding a lead actress such as Alex Chance who, since entering the industry has done her share to really break down the stereotypical porn performer mold. Like the show’s creator, Alex and her everywoman physique has a reputation as a solid performer, while also making a huge impact in the industry on how it views women like her. That is one of the strongest pro feminist statements one can make.

Scene 1 Sierra Day, Dick Chibbles

After Hannah’s (Alex Chance) attempt to seduce her boyfriend Adam go awry (she unexpectedly comes by when he’s about to masturbate to porn mags; he suggests she may be a lesbian) she leaves and meets up with some friends near an alley who get into a little small talk. This leads to a bit of a disagreement between Sierra and her boyfriend. After accusing him of not being spontaneous he immediately removes his shirt, removes her top and he begins to service her orally, Sierra returning the favor by throating his girthy member. Scene 5 Alex Chance, Richie Calhoun

Having the lead performer covered up just doesn’t make that argument any stronger and it does take away from some of the heat of the scene as I would have preferred to see Hannah completely nude.

Summary: Although this could parody could be a cannon for the show as I mentioned before, the script could be stronger. The performers who were all strong seemed to be reciting lines they had trouble saying. This Ain’t Girls XXX tighter script would be better served with a tighter script. Still, as I also said earlier, the parody does keep the spirit of the show alive; maybe they do go for the sex quicker than on the show and maybe they take some liberties with the characters personalities but that’s what a porn parody is. It doesn’t in any insult or demean the show. But OK, for the “fans” of the show maybe the parody does rely on sex to make it’s point come across whereas the show doesn’t do that, but for the show to say it never uses sex and nudity to make it’s point is really kidding itself. The parody is hardly flawless—aside from the script, a solo masturbation scene with Florence Dolce who was in the bathroom before Mia and her boss got it on, while sexy to watch doesn’t fit the storyline, thus making it unnecessary and thrown in there for no real reason. She also appeared to know she was just thrown in there and going through the motion. Now again, it’s a porn parody but the show certainly wouldn’t throw in a sex or solo masturbation scene in there simply for titillation which is what this scene is. Still, the really big surprise is Alex Chance’s ability to carry a film. I wouldn’t put her in the same league of other porn performers who could both act and perform very well yet but there’s just no one in porn who could portray Hannah effectively as Alex. The whole cast really brought their best here both acting and performing-wise and it’s for that I’m giving This Ain’t Girls XXX a Recommended rating.
